I've heard some people make comments like "Beer gives me a different kind of drunk blah blah" some say stuff like "oh beer makes me sleepy." but as far as I can tell beer shouldn't give you anything different, I mean besides the hops (which I doubt theres even enough hops in the beer to have an effect, and plus hops probably dont have an effect anyways, but you know how their sold as dietary supplements..) anyways from my personal experience, beer never gets me drunk really for the simple fact that its usually around %4 - %5 alcohol and you gotta drink a lot of liquid... I figure if you drinking to get drunk just drink straight alcohol, preferably clear liquor like gin or vodka because they will give you less of hangover if any because they got not as many impurities in them!

Ethanol is ethanol. You will not get different effects from beer, just by virtue of it being beer.

Some people find that drinking slowly can make them tired, though, and it's more common to drink beer slowly than vodka slowly (on an alcohol content basis), though. But factors like this are secondary, and are due to how the alcohol is consumed, rather than whether it's beer or liqour.
