Does anyone else NOT talk to their parents?

I don't talk to my parents nor see them.

My father would hit me with a belt as a child till I was too old to do so, to which he would then threaten but not carry it out and was generally an unpleasant person.
My mother was very selfish and manipulated other family members to get what she wanted.

Even though as a child up to 14/15 I would talk to them and think I loved them(because they're my parents right, why wouldn't i?).
Though as I grew older, I just didn't like them as people. I resented them and lost any emotional connection I had with them. Out of choice I decided to distance myself from them. If anything, they just evoke a lot of negative emotion to me.

They may be my parents and I appreciate the roof over my head and the food they provided, but as people, they are fucking foul.

i have a dad who is good when im in his presents he is ok at best , in general! its a me me world. Im in Hawaii my dad in eugene OR so when i went over to try and live and work with him @ 18 years old, he did the best he knew ! i went back to Florida to my mom who is always there for me even now at 31 she is there. we don't get along on many topics, but she is always helping me when i really need it. my sociology of my up bringing was good and bad! but you know what i am grateful for all that i do have . i focus my thoughts on my positive outcomes in life :) i sure as hell don't want to raise kids' shit its hard enough paying for me and my drug habits. but i remind myself how bad so many really have it. then there are people that grow up in the 3rd world with almost nothing. So thanks mom and thanks dad for doing your best :)
