I was thinking, a doctor could easily read all of the forums here on BL. Many posts on this site involve diverting narcotic medication, solicitation and abuse of drugs prescribed by doctors, and even (while I think is discouraged on BL) advice on how to scam narcotics from doctors.

Isn't this foolish? Doctors could read through some of the forums on this site and realize how much of an 'epidemic' abuse of prescribed medication is. If were already aware of all of the prescription drug abuse, viewing this site could reinforce their distrust of patients seeking medication.

This could result in patients who truly need narcotic medication being refused their medicine because a doctor assumes they are selling/abusing their drugs. Also, for pill-lovers and drug addicts such as myself, it could make it harder to scam doctors for pills, because they have caught on to the tricks and deceit required to legally obtain meds....

I do not have chronic pain or any true reason to be prescribed narcotics. I like getting high. If too many doctors began to read bluelight, it could make it hard for everyone to get the pain-relief/euphoria/sedation they need from prescription drugs...

C'est la vie... Do you want to close this marvelous forum? What can we do about that? Hit the "report" button when someone asks how to scam his doc? Too late...

^^^^
Yeah I know, there isn't much we can do about it.

One thing I thought of was to make bluelight private, so that only logged-in members could see the forums. While law enforcement or a doctor could still create an account, bluelight's forums regarding drug abuse wouldn't just pop up whenever a curious doctor googles a drug they have just prescribed...

The downside to that idea is that making bluelight private would mean a lot less people could have instant access to important information and harm reduction...

Help on acquiring drugs is against the Blua (bluelight user agreement). Bluelight is here to help raise awareness and increase harm reduction through open means of communication, with very experienced and intelligent members to help educate. Doctors are most welcome here as they could possible learn something or help educate the users on this form.

Doctors could read BL? So what. Think before you post Forrest, Forrest Gump.

You really think that doctors aren't already aware of the widespread abuse of prescription drugs? It's reported in the media every week. Government agencies are constantly commenting on it. The professional associations which represent doctors publish guidelines for doctors on the issue. Pharmaceutical companies are manufacturing "abuse-proof" versions of commonly abused prescription drugs.

There are plenty of sites out there which discuss the acquiring and abuse of prescription drugs in detail, right down to which particular doctors/clinics to use. Popular as Bluelight is, it's one of literally thousands of places online where drug use and abuse are discussed. It's unlikely that any information posted here isn't available at hundreds of other places online.

All the internet does is allow information to reach a larger audience faster than ever before. People who find "loopholes" can inform others about them quickly, and those looking to close loopholes will find out about them much more quickly than in the past.

there is probably doctors on this site, who are avid posters and respected members.............

^ to my post?

hey man, many doctors are drug users to.......have you not noticed the knowledge of some people here at BL.....

there are more than several doctors on the site. many doctors are not only aware of the problem, but often suffer themselves from addictions and abuse because of the increased availability and access that they have.

there was a paper on it, something like 'drug abuse in the medical profession' search and you should find. it's an interesting read.

Yeah I bet doctors are hip to any tricks or scams used to cop drugs. I'm sure they deal with scammers and doctor shoppers everyday and are aware that some people will abuse the medications and methods they use to get them.

Doctors and Nurses are apparently the most rapidly rising group of pharmaceutical drug addicts according to a friend of mine who is in medical school. I don't have any sources for this, but I know my friend wasn't making it up, it just came up at random in a conversation the other day.

Anyway, you think doctors aren't aware of the amount of drug abusers in this world? Why do you think they are so hesitant to prescribe any sort of drug with any sort of abuse potential? I don't know about you but any doctor who has ever prescribed me anything decent has watched my intake like a hawk, the second they think I'm refilling anything too fast they put a stop to the refills and ask me to come in.

My mom works in a doctors office and spends half her time on the phone dealing with patients requesting early refills on their benzo and or opiate scripts.

The medical community is well aware, they don't need to go on bluelight to figure it out. And as someone already pointed out their medical expertise would be much appreciated.

^ i agree completely ....

but docs tend to be chinsey by the time a patient has built a tolerance, and actually needs slightly more meds...
