Speaking of east-europeans and booze, once from my original town in east europe the local hobo who would drink 1/2L of vodka in one sip from the bottle was found with his legs cut off on the railway tracks. Drunk like hell but still talking, he kept arguing with the cops to let him go and walk home because he was feeling just little buzzed, not realizing a train cut off his legs. He was afraid they were taking him to the detox.
I'll bet he has some sort of enzyme abnormality that inhibits the "normal" interaction of alcohol with tissue. If not he must have massive organ damage by now I'd hate to be his brain/liver.
