Doctor WTF is he thinking? (temazepam to clonazepam switch, question about dosage)

So my doctor just switched me from 60mg of temazepam to 1mg of clonazepam a day that conversion is completly fucked up will I not have withdrawls from going from such a large dose of temazepam to a relativly small dose of klonopin?

According to this chart, 1mg clonazepam is roughly equal to 40mg temazepam - but clonazepam lasts a LOT longer, and will accumulate (half life is up to 50 hours) so after you've been taking it for a few days you'll have more than the equivalent of 1mg/day in your system, and they are different sorts of benzos (predominantly hypnotic vs anxiolytic) so it's difficult getting an accurate conversion. If you think they made a mistake, ring them up tomorrow and let them know how you are feeling. I would not imagine any withdrawals would last long, if you do get any, but speak to your doctor if you are concerned..

kpins work alot longer with the same potency as other commonly prescribed benzos. while the euphoria might not compare to temazepam, you get more bang for your buck with klonopin

Anxiety and I got no euphoria even at extremly high doses of temazepam

Ah, clonaz will be better for that then. It's unlikely you're gonna get any euphoria from benzos, they're not really the type of drugs that you can take a lot of to get high.

Are you using benzos regularly, and if so, have you been doing it for a while? Addiction and withdrawals are something you have to keep a close eye on, even if the meds are prescribed. Many doctors can be very naive in this aspect.

Clonazepam is certainly a better go to for anxitey compared to temazepam unless the half life was an issue. If that were an issue I still don't see temazepam being a good idea for treatment of anxiety, ativan, xanax, or oxazepam would seem more fitting.

klonopin is the way to go. keep your doses low though and don't dose daily. you have to find other ways to cope with anxiety or you will be doomed for dependence

Not to mention klonopin is REALLY hard to quit once you've developed a dependence . With a shorter acting benzo, it's easier to taper off and quit by switching to a longer acting benzo, such as kpins. Personally, I wouldn't take a long acting benzo like kpin for an extended period of time for this reason alone .
