Opioids Doctor Assitsted Withdrawal(being prescibed narcs to taper)

I'm wondering the same thing.

It's a snowballs chance in hell to be prescribed hydromorphone for detox/maintenance (although yes, I've heard of the proposals to use it in maintenance)

not only did he get his DOC he got way more of it, shits fuckin wild.. and im sorry but most drs. do not just prescribe subutex cuz they've got fed the line from the suboxone maker(company).. i dont know anyone prescribed subutex i never asked but i know ppl that have and they got dropped the next month, probably multiple infractions but most if not all Drs. sterotype and most have been fed the line subutex can be abused and suboxone cant, so they assume your back to your old ways.. going to the dr is so much bullshit to me, i hate it.. ill go in throwing up larger amounts of blood deep red blood, not clotted and they play me.. o your too young to have these problems, same with my back but after my MRI they were shocked.. but they still aint done shit

Wait, what are you talking about? I'm sorry to hear about your problems with doctors. It really does hurt me in my heart that doctors, it seems more often than not, whether they intend to be or not, can be very very cruel (especially in their ignorance and stupidity).

That being said, I have been able, on my own (which is how if often seems to work out for me, as help often becomes more of a burden than not - which I guess has to do with whom I ask it from...) to find a doctor work his salt to manage my Suboxone maintenance. It only took 18 months of looking and trying out a handful of others first... :\

It's not unheard of, certainly, but when it comes to opioids it does seem like this rarely happens (especially when it comes about as a "request" from the patient in the form of them demanding their doctor do such, which most MDs don't seem to like getting from their patients). Seems like it's a LOT more common with other drugs such as benzos, for a doctor to promote/allow taping with one's DOC.

hey just an update since i dont have internet where i live - it did in fact work and my doc put me on 2 18mg hydromorph-contin (XR) a day, tapering down to 3mg's over a 5 month period

doctors can lose their dea number, med license, or get jail for prescribing opiates for maintenance in US. in 2000 they
changed the law allowing schedule3 drugs for maintenance, specifically suboxone or subutex with certification.
be glad your not in the US.

Well OP, how's your DOC taper going? I'd think it be neaar impossible to quit while taking a teasing dose of your fav drug, but if you can do it, more power to you and I wish ya all the best. I've tried it myself before (doctor UN-assisted) with no luck, so am really curious how ur finding the experience?

I just did my first taper lasting over a month. Heroin->Oxymorphone->Oxycodone->Tramadol
It makes the physical part of WD much more mild, but the mental and PAWS are the same.
I had to have someone dose me, tho.

Try eating some dark chocolate sometimes that helps me when I'm going through withdrawal.
