This is my first post here but I am a long time veteran to forums and imageboards, I apologize if this is in the wrong section or if this is a dupe thread but search didn't pull up anything too similar so bare with me.

On the second I called my Xanax scrip in 48 hours early as normal. Today I called the pharm today and to my surprise it wasn't filled. I called my doctor and they accidentally sent my scrip to the wrong pharmacy, something that they slip up on every once in a while. Normally they call the pharmacy it was filled at and have them transfer it over but this time they called the proper pharmacy and simply had it filled again.

I go to my main pharm, pick it up no problem. When I get home I get a call from pharm number two telling me that it is my other one is still ready to be picked up. This happened once before back in '08 and I filled both with no problem. Alas, I live in FL and over the past 6 years they have cracked down. I am tempted to pick up the second scrip but I am worried that my doctor will be able to see that I picked up my scrip twice. Initially I thought the pharm would see that it was picked up elsewhere but they have said nothing other than it's ready to be picked up.

Should I risk picking it up? I know my doctor can see two scrips were filled but will she be able to see that two scrips were picked up when she goes to fill my scrip next month? Should I wait a couple days for the pharm to call me where it says "You have x number of prescriptions ready to pick up" and send my father or grandmother to pick it up under the guise of ignorance and claim I had them pick it up thinking it was something else? I have a wonderful doctor I don't want to red flag, or commit a felony by picking up a dupe scrip. It's not like I'm scamming, frauding or pill milling, I just want to 'accidentally' pick up my scrip. What do you guys think?

If I don't pick it up I considered calling my Doc and honestly telling her there is an extra scrip they're calling me to pick up for brownie points.

This isn't harm reduction so you might not get the answers you're looking for.

My personal, uneducated, inexperienced, uninformed opinion would be to just go get it. I don't think your doc can see that it was filled twice unless they were suspicious of something being wrong and actually investigated, but then again I don't know what your situation is. Even so, if they flat out prove you filled it twice, it's still their mistake and you shouldn't get in trouble. Worst comes to worst if they call you out on getting both scripts, then just tell your doc to hold off on next month's script and you'll just keep the second script until then, which would also potentially earn you said "brownie points"...BUT that would mean you have to stay true to your word because you won't be getting any extra medication if you slip up. Not sure why you'd need brownie points with your doctor though, unless you're blatantly seeking drugs which is what this seems like.

Even if it's their mistake, you know it's a mistake. I would let them know that it was already filled at the other pharmacy. As tempting as it may be, this could bite you in the ass if your doctor and/or insurance company finds out.

If you have a good doctor that you want to keep, don't burn her. Personally, I would call your doctor and tell them about their mistake before they figure it out on their own. That might give you a +1 for honesty in your doctor's eyes.

If your dose is adequate and does the job for you,I wouldn't risk getting cut off and red flagged as a drug seeker.Benzos, especially Xanax is getting harder to get and you don't want to fuck this up.Still though,it's awfully hard to pass up that extra script.

Again, it seems like the pharm has no problem with me picking it up. What I'm going to do is wait a couple days until they call me say I have a scrip waiting for pick up. I'm going to send my father or grandmother to pick it up and I'll just say it was picked up not knowing what it was. If by some chance the doctor can see when it was picked up (not filled) I'll simply turn the scrip in saying it was picked up by mistake thinking it was another scrip. If it's I problem I give it back. It's not like I'm seeing multiple doctors shopping, milling or turning in multiple scrips. I don't think it will be a problem. I don't think I will be caught, but if I am, I think it will be if doctors can see when a scrip was picked up when she goes to refill me next month. I still have a couple days to think it over.

This is what I will do if I decide not to pursue it.

Don't get it. This is the kind of thing that can lead to you having trouble getting prescriptions in the future. I don't think it's worth it. Cheap legal benzos are available online if you want more than you normally get.

If the doctor accesses the state prescription monitoring service, he will be able to see it was picked up twice.

An accidental duplicate fill on a Schedule IV benzo will not trigger alarm bells like a Schedule II or III drug would, chances are you'll never hear about it. I'm no expert but it so happens that my GF works as a lab technician in a pharmacy, in other words she dispenses scripts and fills the paperwork. Not in Florida admittedly but it works similar across the country. A closer monitoring of Schedule IV drugs would simply jam the system that's why widely prescribed drugs like benzos are not on a higher schedule despite some of them (such as temazepam) theoretically fitting the FDA criteria for Schedule III.

I picked them up, no problem there. Now I'm going to hold off for a while incase my doctor calls, if she does I'll just say it was a picked up by family by mistake and turn them in. Again, I know doctors can see when a scrip is filled, if she looks she'll probably see and know already it was filled twice. I just wonder if she will see two were picked up next time she fills me next month if it is all connected.

Same as I would.

Doctors are much too busy to randomly look up relatively mundane scripts unless alerted by third parties such as insurance but this mostly applies to costlier meds. Ideally you should have paid cash for the second script but still I doubt it will resurface.

It's more the worry of when she does go to fill it next month digitally, she will see "Okay, so I filled his scrip on the 3th and he picked it up on the 4th, and again on the 5th, wtf". There is no doubt that she can see if was filled twice, that was her mistake, I'm just curious of doctors can see when it was collected. Just a very specific baseless worry. My biggest worry should have been the pharm seeing it was already filled else where, I should be in the clear with the Doc.

I have to close this as it's only going to bring about more speculation about what could happen now.
