So I go to my doc to pick up my monthly script and she asks me to piss in a cup for a drug test. I said sure, no problem. I told her that I smoke some green from time to time as it does help with my back pain. She said they were looking for "hard" drugs. Long story short, my test came back positive for THC (like I told her) and she than said, "I'm sorry, but I can not give you your prescription because you failed your test". WTF??? I told her I use grass once in a while!

So I now have to find another pain doc...not going to puff for a while just in case I'm tested again, but cutting someone off their pain meds after they have been honest and said they used some grass, is totally stupid. And what if I go into w/d? I'm screwed! I'm about ready to leave for Europe for the summer and was going to request a 2 month refill....like I always do. So I'm in a pretty fucked up situation. I need to find meds before I leave! I have knots in my stomach and I'm worried as all hell that I won't be able to find any. All because I took a few tokes of Grass??? This would not have been an issue if I lived in a state where it was legal. BULLSHIT!! I don't take my pain meds for rec use, I'm actually one of the few that has 4 (FOUR) different problems with his back. And in Greece (where I spend my summers), you can't even find the stuff there with or without a prescription. Thoughts? Advice? Thanks!!

I suggest taking going to the doc that cut you off, ask for your records saying you were perscribed whatever you were. Then take a day off and go around doc to doc and try to find a doc that will perscribe you the meds. It might take a while to find a doc that will take you as a patient if our younger, but if your in your 30s or older then it shouldnt be too hard. Good luck bud.

Yeah.....that's what I'm going to begin doing. I all ready got all my films and reports. Like I mentioned earlier, my bitch doctor diagnosed me with 4 problems, yet her findings say different on one of my MRIs. So, I'm going to use the excuse that my doctor keeps changing her prognosis and I get the feeling she really doesn't know what she is talking about. I just hope my records don't get transferred and have the urine test included. Plan on telling the the doc that I want HIS opinion, because the opinion of my other doctor holds very little water with me. I don't know what I'm going to do until I can find an appointment...even then, I'm not sure if I will get a script the first time I visit my new doc. This sucks ass! Thanks for your input Etolk...I actually almost went into Brooklyn today to do some "shopping" to help me, lol.

I was in pain management a few years back. My doctor used to give me alprazolam along with oxy but suddenly told me he was not able to prescribe both medications. Every visit I had to ask him for something to help me sleep and the best he could do begrudgingly was visterol. Every so often, they did random urine tests and one time I tested positive for marijuana. Both him and the nurse were very angry with me. He didn't drop me, thankfully but gave me a stern lecture.

I told him I've had trouble sleeping and occasionally used weed to help me sleep. I wasn't a kid either, I was 45 years old. Any typical doctor would have discharged me but he gave me a second chance and prescribed me amitriptyline. You're at their mercy really and the only thing you can do is find another doctor. Get your pharmacy records too besides your MRI reports for your new doctor. Hope it goes well for you.

I would just get the pharmacy reports then go to a new doctor and ask for a complete new workup with the excuse that you werent satisfied with old doctors diagnosis.

Looking for another doc in my network....my excuse for changing docs is that I have 4 different diagnosis. One month I have this, the next month I have that. I don't think my doc has a fuckn clue. She always talks down to me....as if I was a child. She always asks me if I'm using anabolics, and every time I give her the same answer, "NO...it's been years since I've touched the stuff....test me if you don't believe me". I think she is trying to point the fracture in my back from steroid use. Whatever...I just need to find another doc. I was asked to sign something that said I will only get pain meds from her....but since I no longer plan on going back, I don't think I'll have a problem having another doctor prescribe me my pain meds, right?

Yeah the pain contract only applies while she is your doctor. Be sure to let her office know she is fired when/if you go get your medical records
