DOC and Mirtazapine safety

So, I've been waiting a time and place to take a proper long trip, and now an opportunity arose. Today. I like totrip when the situation just naturally comes to that: suddenly, unexpectedly, the perfect setting presents it self when the time is right. The thing is, I sometimes use Mirtazapine as a sleeping aid, and last had 15mg two days ago, and 15mg a few days prior to that. I know this drug has a long (30h?) half life so the question is: is it safe to do DOC today?

You will be fine. I would not suggest taking them together, as it would probably dull the DOC experience and possibly have some side effects that I could not predict at the moment.

But you took a small dose two days ago, and another small dose a few days before that. I would expect that to have no effect on the DOC if you take it now.

Maybe a slight dulling of the experience (and let's not forget placebo effect) at this point, but we can't be sure. A couple people have reported it potentiating psychs though (an atypical reaction I assume).

Wait a few days to be safe, but if this is like your only window of time available for a DOC experience for many moons there's no compelling reason for you not to go ahead with it. Do report back on how it goes if you do.

I belong to those for whom mirtazapine potentiates psychedelics, especially tryptamines. I'd say it potentiates e.g. 4-AcO-DMT with some 15-20%. It's not that rare that mirtazapine potentiates psychedelics, I've read many reports about it. The only drug I've felt it really reduces the effects of is MDAI (which would implicate a marked reduce in the effects of MDMA too).

Anyway I can't speak for you but based on what you wrote you've only taken a few doses of mirtazapine. While the effects of mirtazapine start faster than with SSRI's I doubt the few doses you took would have any impact, even if it otherwise would reduce the effects.
