Do you think there will be better psychedelics in the future?

what are the chances that after 13.7 billion years of evolution, we'd luckily be born right in the very century during which the most powrful substances possible would have been isolated?

The structure of almost all of the modern psychedelics starts from modifications to dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine. We discovered the most powerful ones, like DMT and 5-MeO-DMT, so early on in the search for psychedelic compounds because they are the simplest compared to existing biologically produced neurotransmitters and most widely distributed in nature.

LSD was a weird exception, and it's probably not the 'best' of its class either, there are probably other ergolines yet to be discovered which kick its ass.

There will be... lysergic acid dimethylmorpholide for one. And there are other things to try... the benzofuran instead of indole -version. 6-isopropyl, 6-trifluoromethyl... and all the combinations of said substitutions.

Noradrenaline (the British name for norepinephrine - after all it is the English language name =D =D ) is betahydroxydopamine, so technically you only needed to say dopamine & serotonin ;)

6-isopropyl, 6-trifluoromethyl... and all the combinations of said substitutions.

I wouldn't hold my breath over the 6-substituted norlyseric acid substitutions as both ETH-LAD, PRO-LAD and AL-LAD seem to lack the full activity of LSD according to people I've spoken to who've tried them. The different amides though - I bet some of those will be at least comparible to LSD; LSM (lysergic acid morpholide) seems a bloody good candidate, being described in literature as identical to LSD, but only lasting 5-7 hours. Also of course there's the mythical ALD-52 (1-acetyl LSD) which is as rare as hens teeth Sorry, but I'd say most people who think they've got it would have only ended up eating LSD as ALD-52 (even if it was originally synthed as ALD-52) will hydrolyse even with moisture absorbed from the atmosphere - and it does so frightenly quickly. If they solve that problem, I can imagine it would be very nice indeed

Ok, 1-0 to fastandbulbous.

However, what you said about ALD52 got me thinking... what about other aromatic amides, like 1-propionyl, 1-benzoyl, etc... I wonder if any of them would be more stable than the 1-acetyl?

One thing that I feel is lacking from the psychedelic world is a substance that would enhance perception of the outside world and visuals without the introspective mind trip. The closest I've found is the come-down of LSD, the period from the 6th hour onward when I emerge with my mind clear and my soul born anew and the world starts breathing with life as I shape it with my imagination. Low doses of DMT also share this character but they are too short lived to be useful.

The only substance I've read about that fits this profile is the little known and disputed bufotenine. I've read claims by someone on the DMT Nexus that it is primarily visual with less 'mindfuck' than DMT, which seems pretty clear to me to begin with. I think I'm going to try a bufotenine extraction when I get around to it.

Better psychedelics? Why? Most of the people in this world refuse to take to heart the lessons taught by the ones we have now. [/misanthropy]

"Most of the people in this world" need to be dosed in the appropriate time, place and fashion to even notice the lessons let alone pay heed to them. When every man, woman and child on this earth have been dunked and basted in liquid Lucy they can move onto futurepsyches :D

^ it only comes down to personal tastes
many people will answer "yes"

between mescaline, and shrooms, salvia divinorum and ayahuasca which have been around for ages.. i doubt there will be anything that special in the future....
here, "ages" means a fraction of instant compared to the age of the universe

i know it's hard to imagine stronger or weirder things the the "big" psychedelics
but statistically, it would be extremelly surprising that we'd discovered them all the very beginning of the discovery of psychedelics

Why couldn't there be another substance greater than LSD?
I mean, wasn't it discovered by fluke?

It's just a matter of time bluelighters..

I find that DOC can replace LSD tripping quite easily, so yes, it's possible to discover something as good or greater than LSD. I still like LSD because of it's cleanness, but I like DOC because I wake up next day perfectly fine (energy-wise, thinking-wise, memory-wise fine) as opposed after-LSD mental fuzz.
