Do you think Heroin would be the king of opiates if it wasn't illegal?

I never tried heroin but I was prescribed oxymorphone (opana) for a good 6 months or so. Out of all the opiates I have tried (darvocet, hydrocodone, oxycodone, oxymorphone, fentanyl) it was definitely my favorite.
 
Obviously there are opiates that are just as good, if not better than heroin. However, I don't think preference for it is due to it's illegal status. Maybe for some people, but I think the attitude of "this isn't allowed so it's more exciting" is kind of childish.

The reason I think heroin would still be king is because of the entire culture behind it. Everyone knows about it, it's more notorious than the other painkillers out there. I prefer heroin. I love the taste, the color, the smell... it comes in those wonderful bags with neat little stamps on them... pharms are boring they are little pills with stupid numbers on them. So maybe I'm childish for having that as my reason but whatevaaaa!!!
 
Ive never done an opi that compared to boy...

That being said, Ive never IV'd Morphine, or Hydro/Oxymorphone, which most people say is the next best thing to IV.

No heroin is most definitely the king of opiates, I mean its a faster onset version of morphine, it doesn't get much better than that. Sure there are opiates with higher potencies but nothing has the qualitative aspects of morphine/heroin. Now on the other hand I might prefer some of the atypical mix action opiates more, tramadol is one such example. But when it comes to you basic mu agonists it is clear to me that the oh so deliciously trippy morphine and H cannot be beat.

Alcohol being legal while narcotics are not is absurd. I am not a kid. I don't drink because of the trouble it brought into my life. But I've used opiates off and on for many years and although I've been sick (withdrawls) a few times, if it were legal I'd use it more moderately and wouldn't have to hide my using.
 
The king of all opiates is Oxymorphone, Hands down. With Oxycodone (pure form) and Hydromorphone (IV'd) and GOOD H come in 2nd.

yeah if opiates became legal i think a lot of people would be living on opiates, meaning they have to take an opiate everyday. Cuz when you become tolerant you can function just as fine if not better then sober people when high. its just the whole running out of opioids/opiates is when trouble starts; i.e withdrawal, depression, PAW, life long struggle with the shit.... why can't we just live on opiates just like people need vitamins to survive whats the difference of needing a daily dosage of opiates to feel fine and function. I've know many opiate addicts that literally used just to stay normal they would hardly EVER get high.
