Benzos Do you think chasing pills with hot tea/water etc makes them absorb faster (empty stomach)

I have a theory consuming with food lowers bioavailability in that some of the drug will be absorbed in the food, excreted and never pass into the bloodstream, so I always try to have an empty stomach beforehand, could be completely wrong though
its actually more complicated, some foods to prevent absorption for some medications but there are also some foods which enhance absorption for some medications

I fins my vyvanse works better taken with a protein rich well balanced meal with plenty of fats and carbs and salt

THC absorption is helped massively with fats, especially if the THC is dissolved in the fat ahead of time

the pharmacokinetics of many medications have been studied which is why you'll get recommendations from your Dr or pharmacist or it says on the bottle "take with meal" or whatever it is

many foods dont impact absorption of some meds at all

its a pretty complicated question of transport of the drug across the cell membrane, does it diffuse or is it actively transported? does it need a certain ionization state? does the food contain something that competes with active transport? enhances it?

xanax has a half like of ~12 hours

clonazepam has a half life of 19-60 hours

I'm using the wikipedia numbers out of laziness FYI

rule of thumb is 5-6 half lives until the medication is no longer at a pharmacologically active concentration

this means that 72 hours after the last dose until the xanax isn't doing anything

and 114-360 hours after the last dose of clonazepam until it has no effect

so that's a range of 3 to 15 days until the medications are out of the system, which can explain delayed onset withdrawal symptoms

Gabapentin works wonders with a small fatty snack.
Also I think taking corrosive pills/drugs often on an empty stomach is a recipe for disaster and just asking for stomach issues. Methadone tablets, MDMA, ketamine etc. Even Ibuprofen
Better to have a small portion of yoghurt or a banana in the stomach at least to not hurt yourselves in the long run.
I promise, the pain from abusing your stomach ain't something you ever want to experience

Huh! Interesting . I assumed that it was always better to take drugs on an empty stomach but obviously I was wrong. On the other hand, I knew you should never take NSAIDs ( ibuprofen, naproxen, etc) on an an empty stomach as a matter of protecting your digestive system. And I had read that certain vitamins and supplements should be taken with certain things, for proper absorption, for eg tumeric with something fatty. Even in the case of eating a vitamin a- rich food like carrots, it's better for absorption with a fatty meal.
Actually, this makes me wonder about the fact that scientists say that the body doesn't benefit from taking vitamin pills much, that it is more beneficial ( bioavailable?) to get your necessary nutrients through actual food.
My lesson in the bioavailability of vitamin pills came years ago when I took a vitamin C tablet. A couple days later I took a poop and there it was, completely undissolved, sticking out of my turd. Crazy!
