Do you prefer swallowing or sublingually taking your xanax?

Lately, I've noticed that swallowing them lasts longer but doesn't pack that hard punch that sublingually does. Just want your opinions. Thanks guys. Stay safe out there.

Yeah, taking them sublingually does work faster but at a price, that of a shorter duration of action. Personnally I do both, depends on my mood.

^ You're welcome ;) I just noticed you were talking about Xanax and not benzos in general. Everybody here will tell you how vile the Xanax tabs taste, and they will be right and wrong. For me only the brand name does taste vile, but the generic alprazolam I find it ok and I can take it sublingually, no problem.

i sort of was one of the biggest tools ever when i was younger and used to snort them.. now it seems swallowing or sublingually taking them doesn't have as hard of an effect. but before that mess i guess swallowing did the trick, it was a matter of how many to swallow for me. i have an incredibly high metabolism so it's hard to catch a buzz anyway.

Sub lingual all the way. I think the BA may be a bit better too.

There is a form of sub lingual xanax that I believe is called niravam for panic attacks...

Every mnaufactrer (I'm still inbed forgvie the spelling) I've tried makes their xanxax/alpraz tastes terrible! Whereas clonaze and diaze? Like candy in my mouth. I'm sayin', tho, you should always chew your pills (i.e. the benzos which u cant really inject anyway).

The idea of chewing my alprazolam makes me want to puke...its bad enough if I split one in half and swallow it, the putrid taste is still there...swallowing them works just fine for me, and on an empty stomach they tend to kick in pretty quick too.

I almost always chew them. I don't do this with the idea that they're going to hit me fast or anything, but because it's a habit with benzos. It's a mental thing, a reflex, I am convinced I will get NO sleep if I do not chew a decent dose of (any) a benzo before a certain time. Anxiety is a bitch.

In the past, when swallowing or taking my xanax sublingual effects didn't really vary, nor did duration. Then again, I used them for sleep so I didn't notice how long they lasted.

maybe I'm the black sheep here, but I don't notice any difference if I take alprazolam orally or sublingually. I begin to feel it in about 15minutes either way.

Wow, thank you guys for the quick replies. I read them all thoroughly and have to agree with most of what you all said. I personally think I'm going to stick with the sublingual route just because of the quick onset. There's nothing like ceasing a panic attack in the blink of an eye.

How long have you had panic attacks? Now that I have had them for years I can mentally break them when they hit in 10 seconds or less. It's the buildup that kills me then the after effects. Xanax is a life saver. Once you learn to condition your brain to "make it go away" with the help of benzos it will happen for you. It's like changing the channel in your brain. It took me years to figure it out though. Good luck!! I wouldn't wish a panic attack on my worst enemy!

I chew them if I'm having a panic attack and wash them down quickly. I'm used to the taste.
If It's near bedtime I will swallow them on preferably an empty stomach as a sleep aid.
I don't take them to get high so I have never snorted them before.
When you have panic disorder and need them they are not seen as a "recreational drug"
Unless you are trading them for opiates!!!! :-)
