Do you prefer CEV's or OEV's?

Sort of a weird question but I'm interested. Would you rather see the world around you morph twist and interact with you or watch geometric patterns dance around under your eyelids? Personally I have a lot more fun physically moving around a trip and exploring a familiar place like its mar's so I tend to avoid 'heroic' doses that immobilise me.

OEVs by a VERY long margin. I too enjoy walking around watching certain patterns and objects bend and morph, as well as the increased appreciation for colours etc

OEVs all the way, simply because at sufficient doses it can be possible to somewhat interact with your visuals. Watch them change as you walk closer or further away from something, they're so tangible
CEVs can be extremely beautiful though there is no denying that.
DMT and ketamine CEVs are some of the most complex visuals I've ever experienced

Im guessing the majority of people will enjoy OEV's more... But for some reason I also prefer tripping in daylight, and I definitely know the majority enjoys tripping in darkness.

Best is when you can dose so you get a bit of both, but darkness is far better imo

OEVs because I have almost never experienced CEVS. The only thing I get behind closed eyes are some weak geometric patterns that are largely uninteresting to me as I've seen them all my life, drugs or not. This is a bummer for me because I read about people seeing all these wonderful things but when I close my eyes there is nothing interesting at all to look at.

The only thing that gives me something close to CEVS is ketamine, but then it's more like a dream than patterns and such.

Yeah sign me up for team OEV as well. CEV's are great for home trips where your just lying on your back with eyes closed focusing on the inner experience but I spend at least 90% of my trip with eyes open so I want something to keep me entertained. I also always trip in the late evening into the night which is when OEV's are most prominent IMO.

Do you think there is more profanity to tripping in darkness?
As in terms of how powerful the visuals are? Id definitely say so.
The morphing and bending perhaps not so much but the colour spectrum in the absence of sunlight is absolutely beautiful. Looking at a starry sky whilst peaking on 2ce is one of my more liberating and grounding psychedelic experiences

OEVs no doubt. CEVs can sometimes get too mindfuck-y for me, I get stressed sometimes with them. OEVs are just fun, except I HATE mirrors on psychs. Does anyone else flip out when theyre tripping and they look at themselves in a mirror?

You ever had the moment where your OEVS are so powerful, that you close your eyes, but the your CEV's are so powerful.
That you Put your hands over your already closed eyes thinking it's going to help.
well it does. It creates a completely different morphogeneic field around everything including your OEVS and CEVS.
++++ Power.

CEVs. if you want a rest, you can always switch them off by opening your eyes (well, as long as you're not tripping so hard that having eyes open or closed doesn't make any difference. but then differentiating between CEVs and OEVs is pointless anyway). when you try to do the same with OEVs it just gets too intense. also CEVs don't sometimes come back for a short time a few days after tripping to freak me out.

on the other hand OEVs are typically more beautiful, especially in daylight.

i have no problem with mirrors, but don't find them particularly interesting either. my face usually doesn't look that different compared to most other things i can look at.

I think OEV's are harder to get and more insane / chaotic and a measure of trippyness or distortion of your faculties (obviously because OEV's are sensory while CEV's are not - they are not really visuals IMO but rather something experienced by the mind's eye - which is not always considered an eye haha), but I think CEV's are more meaningful and a closer reflection of what is at the core of your self, mind or soul.

My preference for either depends on what kind of trip it is, or which part of the trip it is :\ Looking back at all my tripping, I seem to enjoy both types of visuals equally. Except for Salvia. Keeping your eyes open on that is usually not recommended (although on low-dose smoke sessions it can make for hilarious times :D))

Then there's the crossover visual that's neither completely OEV nor CEV... it's the one you get when tripping in low light, and come to think of it, it's probably my favorite :)

not ime. what you're describing is what i get with cannabis, intricate movies playing in the mind's eye, but with psychedelics CEVs for me are as much sensory perceptions as OEVs. it's just that my mind tries to make sense of the static behind closed eyelids instead of trying to make sense of the visual input my eyes get they're open. CEVs are pretty much identical to OEVs in (near)-complete darkness.

That's what I meant, you are just describing it differently. The sensory processing faculties of the brain are surely involved in all of this (seeing when sober, OEVs, CEVs, all of it), but I stop calling visuals OEVs when the visuals are no more based on what my eyes perceive. I don't see any distinction between having visuals with eyes closed in a light surrounding or eyes open in pitch black. Okay maybe a slight difference because of what you call 'static' seen through the eyelids.
The overlap between OEVs and CEVs are IMO rather from the fact that in both instances material of the psyche is projected onto what is perceived. This is the continuous factor and this is what would enable a continuous experience from OEV to CEV and back. Why should there be a significant difference between dream-like visuals and patterns, they are all psychedelic projections.
What may be a little different is MMDA / MDA brain movies where regardless of open or closed eyes reality goes into a spin-off tangent where weird shit happens, that goes more in the direction of a delirium or confabulation because false material is presented as reality filling in gaps. I think that is different from a cognitive point of view. With more typical psychedelic CEVs or OEVs I feel involved and immersed like my 'self', mind or being is participating in the experience but I don't mistake it for reality.

I said that I feel like CEVs for me are more meaningful because the patterning, mandala's and the feeling like there is starlight shining from my center are pure and projected in a void instead of onto my surroundings. I called OEVs more chaotic and insane as a gut feeling but I probably did because trying to make sense out of warping surroundings and trying to mix and master psychedelic effects and information from the sensory organs is IMO bound to be more confusing and a source of cognitive dissonance if you think about it. Then again, that chaos can be sport for some people so I'm definitely not judging.

I find the OEV's on shroom's to be very tribal. Outside in close to pitch black I once saw totem poles, ritualistic fires, elder/shamanic faces in trees, as well as the general warping and portals, while in the same trip when i closed my eyes are just saw lots of shifting shapes that honestly bored me compared to OEV's.
