Theres a BIG difference between injecting insulin under your skin and finding a vein to shoot some dope in. It's not that hard to pinch your skin and inject some insulin, but I have seen hardcore dope fiends literally feel out sunken in veins on the sides of their thighs and on their neck and somehow get their dope in their veins. Thats what I call a needle veteran.

Good point.

I should have added I am a pain freak to.

And a "veteran" in the sense of how many to.

Over 10,000 to date. Hah...

I also love having blood drawn, and I obviously have routine bloodwork done.

There should be a 4th option:

Addicted to the needle, and wished I didn't need it.

option 4 is definitely my vote!good call
wow-so many awesome posts,it would take me days to quote and comment on them all.
nothing for me to add really except my personal feeling.
<3I love the needle.I am addicted to the needle.I love the ritual of fixing up.I am addicted to the ritual.

One point that merits infinite repetition...

If you have not picked up the needle yet-don't

at 21 a good friend(an IV user)refused to teach me or get me off.he said-you...you will love it.and not in a good way.I won't turn you on to it.Just trust me when I say, leave it be.
for over a decade i listened.but at 32 I gave in....

once you've banged and made your own tracks-it is hard as hell to reverse and go back.
be safe,stay safe.

peace n love....
...............skillz

love it
ive used rigs that were so barbed...im scarred
ive used rigs with broken plungers
when im on a coke binge
and after ive used up all my clean rigs....i just throw em all in one box and keep reusing them till the needle exchange opens.....-----------

remember the first time i was ever around people shooting up. grossed me out. i am a curious cat though. so after snorting H a few times... had my BF inject me. i was totally wigged out too, especially since it took him a sec to find a vein. i continued to let him inject me for a while, but i'm an old pro now. my closet is the worst trigger. i prepare on the table right outside it, then tie off in the closet where the light is nice.

there is just such a feeling of accomplishment when you register. sigh. i am trying to get clean-ish though. i am track free today, which is nice :) that's one thing i HATE about the needle. i am super fair skinned.

I love it....wish i didnt.

I remember feeling sick at the thought of a needle, telling all my friends that's the one thing i would never do but then again dope will make you do allot of things you thought you'd never do!

Fortunately i dont do dope anymore so i never really IV drugs anymore (rare exceptions excluded)

Love it, the process of fixing and using and he rush just seems to rewire the brain. I knew it was gonna be bad for me from the start, but theres zero chance of me not using it. I find myself looking at peoples arms and veins.

There's this TV ad that always plays on TV made by the Gov/Non profit about helping people... and in one the ads this women opens what looks to be a jewelry box for a necklace and bust out a big ass needle and says "..just what I wanted"

I laugh with my friends but secretly I'm jealous of the women on TV lol (the needle is my secret).

I personally used to have a HUGE phobia of needles (I'm talking crying like 5 year old kind of scared!)
.

Lol. I used to be the same way. Even the first time someone shot me up I was still bugging out. But after that, even the next time I did it myself that fear/phobia went away

IV drug use dose have its pros/cons but for me the pros out-weigh the cons. I'm able to conserve my drugs, the high is much better, and I would have to say that I feel like I get much more out of the drug when I IV it.

I utilize the Syringe Exchange Program in my area, so I'm using a new works every time, I use new cookers and filters, I use the sterile water or saline and I also read the "Getting off Right" book to make sure I got a better understand of how to IV things.

I would never recommend or tell someone to start IV'ing anything, but its my opinion that if your able to use proper harm reduction techniques and you don't go overboard with the use of your DOC then I think that IV use is ok...but that's just my opinion.

Im in agreement with alot of u, i love the needle to the point i really hate it, the marks the wanting that rush , the anticipation & the terror of fucking myself up

when i first began shooting it was just a means of being able to get the most bang for my buck; cheaper hit and getting 100% out of the drug.

then i come to love it soon after. i loved the high it produced, i loved the whole ritual of setting up my shot. i loved seeing that plume of blood enter the barrel and watch it trickle all the way out again, unit by unit. i loved the elitist feeling of using a needle, the stigma around people who used it. yeah, im one of those people who shoot up. i inject hard drugs.

then it turned on me and i hated it. it ruined a lot in my life, it hurt me mentally and physically. i let it get the better of me. but i turned things around and now i'm in control.

it's a matter of respecting the needle now. for what it can give and take away just as easily, all within one fell swoop.

of course i voted for love in the poll;)

Something interesting happened a week ago when I went to get a blood test. After the guy took the needle off my arm and I started pressing pressing the little cotton ball I had a kind of a dysphoric rush for a few seconds. I guess my mind was expecting a rush of euphoria at this point and got very disappointed.

shot

In my opinion using dope or for that matter coke with a pinch of some works is just about the most alive any one human can feel at anytime. This being said, feeling alive in this way is not a feeling one would be able to achieve without taking a fair risk. Resistance to the call of the tool is whats necicary and sometimes unattainable. Anyone involved in this venture has seen things they wish they had not, stating this is simply bragging. New memories are what its all about. To experience these one must show the ablility to obstain for certain periods. Whithout this ability new memories do not materalize.

Hated it at first, which is probably a good thing. Someone else always gave it to me because I was too squeamish, which resulted in me not doing it that way until 16 yrs after my first shot. I think it was 4 months before I finally got sick and tired of having to depend on someone else, so I got into the mind set of "you can't have a needle phobia and be an IV user, lol." It hurt at first cause of the mental thing, and inexperience. 4 months later though I was called a true pro, by the guy that taught me and who was a mega pro himself.

Now is a different story. It doesn't hurt, I don't even feel it. Sure I enjoy seeing the first drops of blood in the barrel which mean play time real soon, but at the same time, the IV method can be a giant inconvenience, unless you're like the pro that taught me back in 1999, who carried around a long metal cigarette case with prefilled rigs ready to go. I admit I find that idea appealing, but so do the cops, haha. This means I'm limited to getting high at home only, unless it's some rare occurrence where I'm staying overnight with a friend that doesn't get self righteous with me using my method, and the friend's pad is not a bust to be hanging out at to begin with.

I kinda hate the pain even though I do it I kinda dislike it and want it to be over soon. So sometimes i close my eyes and have friends shoot me up.
