Hate it. Mainly 'cuz, once I start scratchin', I can't stop til I start bleeding. Thankfully tho, I learned how to plug 'em...greatly reduced the amount of itchies.

I believe that I posted earlier in this thread that I liked it.

Now I don't like it as much, especially with morphine. So benadryl has become a necessity for me when taking opiates.

That'll kill the itch...seriously? Shit, wish I new that a few weeks ago.

The itches are due to a histamine release that is triggered by opiates. So anti-histamines are ideal for preventing the itches.

No, it is not very dangerous to take benadryl with opiates. Some take it as a potentiator, and it is one of the safer ones.

CNS depressants such as alcohol and benzodiazepines (xanax, valium etc) are dangerous when mixed with opiates though, since it is also a CNS depressant.

I love everything about how opiates effect me, the histamine release included. I would not want to take an anti-histamine to ever prevent the opiates from being opiates how they do naturally. The itch is pleasant.

I don't mind the itch but my skin turns bright red where I itch and it lingers. This can make it awkward around other people when they ask me why I have red line along my neck. Also means I have to wear a shirt or risk looking like I've rolled down the worlds longest grass hill.

the sedative effects of 1st generation antihistames (diphenhydramine, doxylamine succinate, etc) could prove troublesome to those uninitiated with the dosage and effects associated when combined with opiates.

2nd generation antihistamines don't cross the blood brain barrier thus have no drowsiness associated with them. loratadine and cetirizine are just two examples of these.

after doing dope for the first time i went to bed and woke up scratched bloody. my nose didnt recover for weeks.

i have a hard time being in clothes on dope they get so scratchy

I love the itch, and while I've rubbed myself raw a few times (mostly in my sleep) I wouldn't trade the itchiness for anything in the world while I'm on my opiate of choice.

While we're on the subject (probably already answered in the thread somewhere but I'm not trolling through 17 pages of replies). I'm mostly into oxycodone but I had the chance to try Opana a few years ago. I'm not sure how much we took because I wasn't very familiar with it back then and the guy just kept offering line after line. But I do remember having an intense itch all over for the rest of the night, and needless to say the next day I felt like an old man. I've never itched that much before or after, and I've never tried Opana again.

Does Opana cause more itchiness than other opiates or was this just a result of doing too much with a low tolerance? At the time I wasn't really heavy into opiates like I am now and was only doing a few percocet 7.5s a day a couple of days out of the week.

No, I don't like the opiate itches at all really. In general I hate itching and will often scratch an itch to the point of drawing blood. It is a rare case indeed I will take a strong dose of opiates and not scratch the fuck out of myself, impossible without antihistamines.

I usually take antihistamines when I use opiates to help alleviate the itch, I would say opiate/opioids are my favourate class of drugs but personally I probably find itching the biggest downside to them.

I have to say I find it quite surprising to see more enjoy it than don't.

hot itchy highs

Ive done h so much i dont get side effects like nausea and itches. But back in the day, when i would get really high, i would vommit my guts out, and feel all hot and itchy. Also, when i shoot up i get hot and itchy, but i havent shot up since new years. That was my new years resolution!! I havent shot up since :) thats a step in the right direction, right? Hahaha

I like them, but sometimes they get too damn intense. I will end up with huge scratch marks all over m chest and inside of my thighs. also the part of my body that itches the most is my cock and balls, which is heaven to scratch at first, but after a bit it starts to just hurt, and can even hurt into the next day. benedryl doesn't help either, I need to invest in some hydrocortizone.

-disregarding the (seemingly) million variables are. not an issue-i say no. I love the ENORMOUS relief I get while ridding "the itch' but I dislike that it's distracting, and a giveaway- to others.

i used to like them, because they were a sign that my codeine started to kick in.
but with each subsequent use of it (with about 1 month pause inbetween, the itch became less and less easy to tolerate...

now it just kills my buzz, because i've got to keep myself from scratching the first two hours after ingestion.

And just to be clear, i guess i wont add antihistamines to my opiates, i havent been using codeine in at least 4 months
