Do you like normal music too?

as most people, i like a variety of music
but when im not listening to techno its propably going to be hip hop
and the choice between the 2 depends on mood, one being fast and the other being more relaxing

I love Trance/Happy Hard etc, But I also enjoy Classics like Pink Floyd, U2, Midnight Oil, Queen and so on. Also Metal can be quite enjoyable e.g Rammstien and KoRn.

while i do like hard trance & happy hard, my roots are really in alternative rock & metal. my absolute #1 fave band is pearl jam & im super stoked i got 11th row floor tix for their sydney show!!! some of my other favourite bands are tool, radiohead, smashing pumpkins, queens of the stone age and deftones. im basically into any kind of music that ellicits an emotional response so i love some pieces of classical music like tchaikovsky's swan lake and carl orff's carmina burana.
oh ps, HI KITTY!!!! :)

no i listent to everything, and like other people have said, i especially enjoy it more whilst "feeling good".
i actualy like dancing to top 40, more so than the progessive "ministry of sound tracks". the only problem is that i have found that on x i really just dont have the motivation or energy to get up and dance.
i enjoy the music immensly, but just dont want to get up. walking around is ok. but dancing....jee. way too much effort.

i love queens of the stone age...just got tickets to their melbourne show, and my bid day out tick...me happy. Now got my welcome and summer dayze tickets, all i need to do is to get enough money to last me till then.
But i still love stuff by the cure, nin, tool, the smiths, john frusciante, vast, ect.
I think most people here would have a vast musical intrest or background, i mean, you cant listen to electronic music all the time. can you?

Lucky Lucky you!!!
Pearl Jam are also my fav band ever, and my tickets are 3 fucking rows from the BACK in the Entertainment Centre.
I will be able to see sweet fuck all.
And then they announced more shows. Bastards.

^^^^ hehe, i have fan club tickets somewhere in the first five rows (don't know 'til i pick them up on the night) for the first show, and more floor seats (though further back) for the third night. haven't bothered to get my second night tickets yet though, 'cos i'm lazy :)
i'll have to get onto it soon though, or i won't have any money! melbourne btw...
!brad

i used to be a huge Metallica fan, Kid Rock etc fan
I reckon Korn etc are the reason i liked the sounds of electronic music...
But i dont rush when i hear that song on the radio as i do when i hear that song being banged out by the dj..
Oh and if normal music is Nelly, grease megamix and shit they play at most clubs.. hehehe then no i dont like normal music... but Robbie Williams is still da man and Kylie kicks ass.

I've been playing guitar for 8 years now and have been through alot of music stages which makes me a pretty versitile listener. I mostly like trance, breaks, and D&B but i keep an open mind, i just like hearing alot going on so i don't really like happy/hardcore
it's sort of embarrasing to say but my favourate band of all time is pinkfloyd (and im only 20!) i used to be a tripper and it sorta stuck, classical os good, stuff from the 70's mostly, funk, jazz, ac/dc ROCK!! haha country! some of that latin stuff is good, SOME pop is good, im a big fan of radiohead too actually, the list is endless 4 me i think (i've prob got more likes than dislikes)

I worked in retail for a couple of years, and the radio was constantly on, tuned to one of a variety of Melbournes commercial stations. It drove me insane. The mediocrity, the REPETITION! The assimilation of all other music styles into a shiny pop anthem!
Sorry, but not alot of it can I regard 'normal music.' There is a difference between mainstream and outright mass cultural blitzkreig.

I must say, I really do want to hear a good remix, of that kylie song "Fever" I think it has potential!.. i think thats a normal song, what is now days?

When you're in the car for 2.5 hours a day five days a week, a constant beat really gives you the shits after a while... ;)
Now I just flick around between radio stations... my presets are as follows - Nova (100.3), Joy (94.5), Tripple R (102.7), PBS (106.7), Tripple J (107.5), ClassicFM (103.5), MixFM (101.1), Fox (101.9), GoldFM (104.3), Tripple M (105.1), Can't remember! (89.9), Street FM (87.6), ABC (774AM), 3AW (1278AM), ABC News Radio (1026AM).
Out of all of those, there's usually something interesting to listen to on at least one of them. And as far as CD's go - I have things ranging from all sorts of doof, to all sorts of metal/rock, to all sorts of older stuff. :)

deecee! hehe i love that song that was actually the song i think i was singing along to when my co-worker asked that silly question

RE: Music snobbery
Yep, some people are really precious about their music, everything they listen to *has* to be underground to be any good. I have a friend who's a big Drum n' Bass fan and the other day I was asking him what (music genre) he thought Kosheen were.
[... insert discussion about dance music genres]
Me: So what would you call Kosheen?
Him: Sellouts
:D

If you think it is embarrasing to like one of the all time greatest bands ever, you are a very sad person indeed.
Denial is a beautiful thing I have heard.

I know a message borad lacks this aspect but i really get sick of the weird looks i get when i jump out and say i've got every pink floyd cd (bar the first 2 or three)
im from a fairly traditional family where being normal is expected of you... what ever being normal is considered to be eludes me
but thankx 4 the sad comment, i just thought i lack confidence...anyway...

If someone you tell doesn't like the music you like, don't worry about that. That's their loss :)
Keep on enjoying what you like and don't let ANYBODY tell you to like/dislike anything! :)

Being a total music nerd since the age of 5 (when my Mum bought me Michael Jackson 'Thriller'), Ive since checked out pretty much every style of music under the sun.
Seriously, Im a walking Encyclopedia of Popular Music. Just try me!!
However, since getting into dance a few years back, Ive become intolerant to alot of other music. I find most rock/pop/country etc. too slow and grinding. And the depressing lyrics that u hear in most rock stuff these days doesnt inspire me much either.
For me, the up-lifting effect of dance music is more interesting and fun than any other musical experience I can think of.
NOt to cancel out rock altogether, tho. I still think The Pixies r the shitte

I live with a bass player in a metal band, so i get my fair share of metal, but having grown up on gunners, then metallica, pantera, sepultura, fear factory and finally messuggah i guess i don't find it too bad. In fact i'd say "ounce, ounce" did i say ounce music, ok, electronic music is more normal than the freaky shit my house mate listens to. Berzerker, for instance, a big word up to everyone from melb metal, have a drummer who holds the world record for snare hits in a minute, their shit makes amped NRG sound like ginger beer. My fave band is primus, always has, a band which no one can accuse of being normal! So i guess in answer to the thread i don't like normal music, wagner prolly counts as normal(definately not if ya a crappy talentless artist from Vienna, with one ball and a funny little mo) but i only listen to it when i'm trippin off my nana, Turn up the freaky shizz-iiit!
