do you drive when you're high?

I do, but only if I have to, and never with drugs in my car. I try to minimize it as it's never really enjoyable and it's time I could be spending being high and doing something I enjoy. When I get really high I'm usually stressed at first, but I remind myself that it's like a videogame, and I'm pretty damn good at videogames when I'm stoned. =D

I can drive pretty high, unless my mind starts playing tricks on me and stuff like that.

I generally don't drive high, but when I have to I usually am a better driver because I am so paranoid hahaha.

i know comparing alcohol to weed for impairment is silly, but they are both intoxicating substances!

what if say you compared 1 toke to 1 shot of alcohol?

which would have you more intoxicated? i know for me and alot of people who smoke high grade 1 toke would have more of an impact.

the point is that once you get that fucked up you are on either substance, you SHOULD NOT be behind the wheel.

No, because tolerance isn't really relevant when comparing the effects weed and alcohol have on driving. Stoners can still get high, and drunks can still get drunk.

you really believe this? I remember my cousin smoking weed for the first time, she could not walk up the stairs, she had to crawl.

I do all the time, but it took time to build up the confindence and experince to drive comfortably high, on top of that I'm not your average 19 year old dumbass kid driver, I've spent countless hours driving all over the state.

I can't believe we're comparing alcohol and weed in regards to driving at this point.

I've never been so high (from smoking) that I could not drive safely. If I was pulled over, I could "sober up".

Any time I drink 10+ beers, I know I would not be driving safely. Hell, I probably wouldn't make it home.

While this is not universal (obviously), alcohol is a different beast. There is a reason blunt cruising is so popular, and not drink-cruising.

Should we drive while impaired? No. Are there certain substances that are less endangering? Of course.

Exactly..

drscience, your cousin has nothing to do with anything..

I haven't driven high since high school (6 years ago). I wouldn't do it again. I found it more terrifying than driving drunk (which I was an idiot for EVER doing). Being as I do not have a vehicle at the time, I do NOT drive high. I wouldn't if I could. However, I would ride my bike high, indeed I would.

when i get bored i drive all around nj gettin baked in my F-250. i love goin 2 da pine barrens or up in da mountains, the shore gets so boring i like trying 2 get lost but its impossible for me in nj no matter how blazed i get

Drugs effect everyone differently.

I have never driven after smoking and the one time I ate herb I could not even imagine driving at all since it would have been impossible and I could hardly even walk or stand up.

I have friends who blaze and drive all the time and there have only been about maybe 3 times after smoking that I actually could have done this had I really wanted to but I did not drive at all.

When it comes to something like driving while high, it really depends on a few factors such as how experienced the user is in driving AND smoking. As well as how marijuana effects that particular user.
For me, when I first started smoking I realized driving wasn't necessarily DIFFICULT, but more so...annoying haha. I remember it felt like the stop sign was never going to get to you, even though it was only a block or two away haha.
Although, my perceptions and reactions were always about the same, and that's where the whole "how marijuana effects the user" comes into play.
I've known some people who could catch a needle thrown through the air while high and I've also met people who can't catch a goddamn basketball while high, even if they were told they were going to be receiving it before hand haha. Everyone varies.
Once I became a more experienced smoker, driving became not a problem at all, and actually, I find nothing better than to just take a long drive and smoke a few bowls and just think, listen to some music and enjoy the drive.

I do it when I have to.
I'm constantly paranoid that I'll get pulled over for something dumb like a broken tail light and then be in big trouble because I'm high or something. Even when I'm sober I worry about getting pulled over.

Oh I agree with the basis of your post. 1 toke of grade A will do substaintaily more than 1 shot of alcohol, but I don't feel that 1 toke or 10 tokes would effect my driving enough that anyone would notice. Beyond that, I think you are comparing it wrong -- shouldn't you compare the level of intoxication of weed at a scale of say, 5 out of 10, verse the impairment of alcohol at the same level (5 out of 10)?

I've driven high with anti-weed people in the car and they didn't even know -- at a point, weed just stops being something that gets you so blasted that everyday tasks become difficult. I'd say it is one of the safest drugs to actually drive on -- it only makes me more aware.

It's never smart to drive impaired, I agree. As I said, I would feel 100% confident driving high, but I know PLENTY of people who I wouldn't ever let get behind the wheel. However, I don't know ANYONE I would want driving after drinking much alcohol at all.

You guys are missing the point.

I am not saying the effects of alcohol and marijuana are the same at all. Alcohol is an example. It could be cough medicine, xanax, whatever.

The point is drive sober.

There is always the possibility that some guy who hasnt smoked in a while gets passed a joint while driving and freaks out cause its really potent shit. Sounds farfetched, but hey, weirder shit has happened.

But cmon beta? you dont think tolerance has anything at all to do with the effects of marijuana? I sure as hell know I couldnt drive the first time I smoked, I was really really high. But now having smoked for 6+ yrs I could drive after smoking 2 spliffs of sour deisel to myself.I wasnsnt talking about my cousin, its what happened to her when she smoked. Lack of tolerance.:)

Level of intoxication will vary from person to person, there is no way to compare them like that.

i know this has been asked in the culture section, but i wanted cannabis only replies

personally i feel like it isn't a big deal to drive high, but i wouldn't say the same for most other drugs

Yup. See, Im in college, so it's kind of ritualistic for me to catch a buzz on the way to school. It makes me kinda mad though, cuz it seems like EVERY time I start to puff my bowl, a cop, or a trooper, or a sherriff just so happens to ride up RIGHT next to me LOL! So I take the back streets to avoid all that. I donno why-I just like smoking and driving on the way to school. Hey...at least my grade kick ass!

I don't think driving high is really that much different than driving sober. It is definitely not as distracting as driving drunk. I wouldnt say i enjoy driving high as opposed to driving sober.
Anyway, I see no problem with driving high, but i don't agree with driving when drinking alcohol.
