Do you clean your ears?

people that don't clean them out probably don't realize that they have globs on wax sticking out there ear, looking unsightly and all...

the one time I stopped cleaning them, I ended up with so much wax build-up that my hearing was impeded.

plus, it is so damn satisfying to clean them out and see all that neon orange goo!!

I had ear tubes growing up and suffered ear infections pretty much continuously. I can't express enough how much pain I went through as a child and adolescent because of all of this. Anyway.. about 6 years ago I started cleaning my ears with Q tips every day after getting out of the shower and I haven't had any ear infections since.

Could be unrelated but I seriously doubt it.

Furthermore, my hearing is very good. Despite rupturing my ear drums numerous times and going through probably 200 ear infections in my life.. somehow I made it through with very acute hearing and I don't see the Q tips doing any damage to it since..

Absolutely everyday. If not with a qtip then with hydrogen peroxide.

I used to not be as religious about it until I met a friend several years ago who you could see this disgusting yellow shit from several feet away in his ear. Ever since then, I have been paranoid about doing it.

Until recently I would use a q-tip everyday, but then my doctor told me to stop because it was actually compacting the wax which could lead to something bad (I can't remember what exactly)... Now I try to clean as much as I can with a damp cloth or tissue after my showers. I am so paranoid of being "that person" described in psychopath's post... :(

Your elbow is pretty big man. 8o Are you sure you didn't mean another part of the body? :P

A Q-tip is a cotton swab, not a cotton ball--Not sure what a cotton bud is. :P Kinda like how bandages are called Band-aids--In the US at least. 8)

Yes the doctors here say you should not put anything in your ears, not a cotton ball, a cotton bud here is like a little stick with some cotton wrapped round each end kind of like a mini double paddle lol
here we call band aids plasters bandages for us are a legth of material that gets wrapped around for example a sprained ankle. :)

I just got over a double ear infection.

I used a syringe filled with hydrogen peroxide to break up the wax.

It persisted for ten days. After I started a course of antibiotics, it went away.
