Do you buy your drugs in grams in the states?

I know that weed usually goes by the ounce, but what about the rest, like coke, meth or heroin? What would be a "standard" amount to buy if you're buying meth in ounces?
 
^coke is sold in ounces as well as meth
It goes points, halves, grams, balls, ozs and pieces...balls being 1/8 of an ounce or 3.5 grams
Heroin, in the west, is sold in "pieces," some people argue its 25 grams (called a "mexican ounce") and some people argue its 28 grams, a true ounce.
 
In the US most people I know buy 3.5 grams (of herb) at a time, prices differ by state and other variables. You can also buy as little as a gram at a time, though.

As far as the big city I live in, if you want to buy cocaine it's gotta be at least a gram, better to buy an 8ball (3.5 grams).

Meth is weird, there doesn't seem to be standard prices for this drug where I am, despite how available it is. Dealers seem to be more willing to sell sacks smaller than a gram with this one. Usually people buy teeners (1.75 grams) or balls.

Heroin gets sold by the point or by the gram. If you buy an OZ from Mexico it will be 25 grams, if you don't know your hookup he'll definitely short you the 3.5 grams.

Which is very true. I'd have no idea how many grams were in an 8th, an oz, and a lb if not for the need for conversion. So yes, grams are used as the base measurement because the US system doesn't have an equivalent measure.
 
You can buy any substance in grams, ounces, kilos, milligrams, etc as theyre all units of weight.

By this do you mean that people who smoke weed usually buy it 28.5 grams at a time? I find that most people who do this do it in order to not have to hit up a dealer every few days or so, if they dont live in a state with medical marijuana. If in a medical state, its readily available 7 days of the week during all reasonable hours of the day so purchasing bulk amounts isnt really a necessity or a desire for that matter.

If youre buying meth, heroin or cocaine in ounces, then you either have a big problem or want to do something very illegal.

I don't know many people who normally buy ounces of meth for personal use. I've known a few people who buy ounces of coke for personal use, but definitely not meth and probably not heroin either.
 
For the average person they cant buy meth/coke/heroin in ounces. Grams are more common for personal. Even 8 balls (3.5 grams, or even 3grams with some dealers) are also common. Heroin can be bought in grams if you get raw but is usually sold in bundles and that doesnt have a set weight to it and quality goes up and down.

^No, he really won't hook me up unless it's atleast for one million micrograms. Cheaper than your baggy of herrown, that's for sure!

Not really, tbh half gram purchases are far more common than ounce purchases but then again I live in a medical state so there's no need to stock up.
