Hey everyone,

I've never been into all that stuff but, idk, now I have a more open mind. I'm trying to deal with a loss so am more interested in mediums. But any of you been to any of these people and what were your experiences like?

never been, dont believe in them. but lets say they are real id fear that the one I walked into would be phoney and play on my emotions when I was going through a difficult time. on a side note sorry to hear about your loss, it sucks i went through the same a few months back.

I believe many of these practices to be real, however I think many if not all of the people you see at stores or charging money for this are liars, conartists, and coldreaders. I think studying it yourself is best, or finding a friend who is interested.

I've met people who have done Tarot really well and have hung out or used services from people who were somewhat esoteric (?), I guess you might say highly spiritual people in the past. Like people have said anyone who asks for money, has a store, psychic fairs, etc. is more into reading people and then spitting it back at them, the good ones at least.

Anyone who is "legitimate," won't ask for money or much in return. Its more offering an experience that you can grieve thru, whatever that may bring. Depending on your religious leanings, it may be as simple as arranging to see a priest, spiritual advisor, guru, shaman etc. That's an easier route and probably better than say someone looking to milk you for cash, on repeat visits.

Yes I do think it's real, but, like Ouija boards... something to stay away from.

If you believe in spirits, you may as well believe in God. And if you believe in God you may as well take the bible seriously.. and if you take the bible seriously... you'll notice it constantly warns against this kinda stuff.

in the bible Paul meets a psychic medium, and removes an evil spirit from her and she loses her powers

My mother was into these psychic readings back in the 70's. When I was a teenager I was into drugs and got in trouble a bit. So mother took me to see her so called psychic friend, who just gave me a lot of hoo-haw about my path in life: I could go this way and things will turn out great or take the other road and end up in a bad state. Nothing specific, just like later we went to other "mediums" who just seem to pull shit out of their asses.

She would bring a tape recorder to replay it later. They generally bring up vague things and get you to talk about it, that's all they need really. Power of suggestion combined with your vulnerabilities keeps them in business. Don't waste your money because like others have said, these people are only doing this for money.

On a lighter note, do you ever watch any of those mediums on tv? I have to tune in on the sneak because the old man has a fit and says it's all bullshit. But I like to watch even if just for entertainment. I would really like to believe my loved ones are watching out for me and I lost them all: fiancé, father, sister and mother. The only one left is my step-dad and son. If I lose either I don't know how I would handle it. I feel your pain man. <3

That is quite a bit of assumption you've got there, lol... I believe in spirits, I believe in God, but the bible is a manipulation of God...
A bunch of stories told specifically to lead people away from anything that gives them any power over themselves (rather than in the hands of the government/people in power), seperate them from source as much as possible... "oh hey there read this book and believe everything it says or go to hell and be tourtured forever and never question authority or break the laws and basically accept what your told and if anybody ever comes and tries to make the world better, do not support it as they are the antichrist, instead wait around forever for a guy on a white horse, and hey if anyone else ever comes and tells you differently they are there to test your faith "... and the church shows them something REAL like GOD and then they just assume that since God was real everyting else that they say must be as well, right?

its fucked up!!

but yes, i agree, i'd say to stay away from ouija boards to contacting spirits, not all of the occult is a bad thing but unless your ready to deal with some weird shit, i would just not do anything like that at all... lol... whatever it is you need to know, you can most likely figure out yourself or its not relevant and yeah..

there is most certainly light in the occult and I believe these tools are here for a reason.... heck, even Moses had his rituals (his sourcery): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sixth_and_Seventh_Books_of_Moses (so these guys were allowed to do it in the name of God but no one else? I thought Jesus was the only exception?)

have you heard of james randi? he offers $1000000 for anyone who can demonstrate their supernatural or paranormal abilities under scientific conditions. more than 1000 people have tried but none have been successful.

that is because things of that nature rely on the mind and manfiestation, when they are under scrutiny and observers who do not believe it to be possible, it skews the results. ever been in a large group of people who believe telepathy and magic to be possible ?

Thank you everyone for your feedback although I was kind of hoping for happy stories. Lol. I have a friend who is really into this sort of stuff and suggested me to this one specific person. So I believe that, if anything, this person would be legit.

I do watch, "Long-Island Medium" and that's what kind of got me into it. I would like to believe that too. I'm so sorry for your losses.. that must have been horrible. I lost my younger sister (11 yrs old) and father two years ago. Thankfully, I met my bf and we are going strong! Sometimes, I think he's a gift from God to help with my grieving--other times, he was just a bartender that thrown me in waay too many taxis. -__-

I dunno if this counts but i like getting fucked up on psychedelics and healing myself every now and then. Spiritual healing? Perhaps.

While i believe it is real the problem with many legit mediums or psychics is that they dont spend any time focusing on building their character, positive activities and ideas and overall the "raising" of their own vibration or frequency. This means they can only access the spiritual dimensions and related abilities up to and no further then their current level. This results in possible negative influences and inaccurate information passed through them and effecting their clients as well.

That's why any training and information of merit on developing these gifts and related abilities always focus intensely on building character etc as i mentioned allowing the student to access higher planes and this more powerful positive entities, energies and information.

The legitimacy or quality of a psychic or "medium" could in theory be tested by how they live their life, how they act and also how much they charge. No genuinely gifted person will charge more then say 50$ per specific service and if they do then you could assume some negative vibration of greed or selfishness has come into play.

But they also wont do this for free since its been proven countless times that people dont take whatever service was delivered seriously enough for it to be any benefit and then wastes the time of the service provider and client.

Of course these tests are not foolproof but can help to some degree should these services be required.

My first I Ching reading, my friend was on my mind, but my question was also related to me. It was simply "What?"... Something to that nature.

The way I did the reading was by cards. It was a deck by an artist named Klaus Holitzka.

My first hexagram drawn was hexagram 56- "the traveler". The image and card is the card displayed on the front of the box the deck came in. The image has a figure walking with a rucksack toward the sun, and in the direction of a mountain. My friend- someone close, was leaving to stay in Germany for a year very shortly, so although the question was general, him being on my mind and this hit, as well as the card being the one on the cover.

56- the traveler, has been likened with the "fool" tarot, which is where the journey begins.

I think there is something to it. But always test the spirits. Be agnostic, but also try to have faith.

My first experience with paying a medium/psychic... He knew that I had problems eating... Or the spirits did. He claimed to receive what he got from "spirit/spirits", which is vague but honestly its about as honest as someone can be I think with this. At least me.

A girl I was with was putting cards down from a deck of some kind, and just wanting me to be aware, or something, of what I felt. I was experiencing attraction toward her, and wanted her in my life. I felt purpose with her, and she laid down a card that said "purpose" in alignment with my having this thought.

They're all time tested ways of parting gullible people from their money

Is a movie not? At the very least it can be considered an exercise of ones own perceptions.

There are also many who don't ask for money, and people who have experiences that disagree with you. Have you personally investigated? Can you absolutely prove your statement? I can say for certain that my events occurred as they did. The "psychic" however... I am uncertain of. He was not incorrect. I just don't know how he was correct, exactly.

Yes I believe the spirits behind to be real but they aren't your deceased beloved ones. I do stay away from any such pollution of demons and would advice others to do the same.

Do you have any personal experience of this? Or any close friends/family? Or any reason in particular to think that or are you just spreading Christian propaganda for no reason?

Anyone who is any good at this gets recruited to government PSI-ops and sworn to secrecy. The rest are charlatans.

True story

I have read enough books on the topic and watched very scary real life documentaries on tv about it. Like in one case a couple took one Ouija board to their home whereby their home became haunted and the female got possessed in the end. It had date and actual times for the events. It didn't help even if the male part of the couple threwed the Ouija board to the fire. Eventually the demonic force threwed the male from the hall back to bedroom. It stood at the end of that documentary that the male died and his girlfriend were nowere to be found. Just for the record I don't belong to any church nor am I even baptized. I'm a sufi and tolerant of other religions other than demonism.
