Do we really have souls?

Guy please keep on topic ok?

Reading through these posts I still have not found a legitimate answer as to whether we have souls or not. My final opinion is that no one can prove we have souls unless he/she has died and came back to life.

I don't want to go on and on about this but you seem to have a point.

I've been brought up as a Christian, Roman Catholic to be precise so I know a lot about what was written in the bible about how Jesus was resurrected etc.

While growing up , I saw flaws in the bible, religion was mostly used by people to control other people so you can't just believe in what the bible says you have to be skeptical and read science as well. You gather evidence then you make a conclusion.

There are no anecdotal evidences as to a human being having a soul after death so how can you make me believe?

Well ... depends on what you consider to be a soul... I consider the soul..to be consciousness itself....Does this consciousness continue after the physical body dies?... Yes

You want proof?

Master the ability in the aforementioned posts.

Again... This isn't a belief... This is something that is known.

I don't call it a 'soul'... I call it consciousness itself.

Ok so if your belief that this is consciousness, don't you need the body as well plus the brain to have the consciouness? If your body is no longer functioning how are you able to have consciousness? You need the body as a whole to have consciousnes which means you need to be aIive.

Loll I am awake hun. You need both to be alive science has proven this and the spiritual world hasn't. I rest my case

I personally believe that we do. Hell, I even believe in soul mates. Just the way I feel when I'm truly happy...there's a certain depth to the natural euphoria that I can only explain as my soul being fulfilled. Like in that moment, if I were close to death and it was impending upon me, I would be ready and would welcome it because part of me would carry on. I don't look at souls from a scientific aspect because I find it pointless being there is no organ called "the soul," but spiritually, I absolutely do believe I have a soul.
As for soul mates...I don't believe this is reserved to just love-life relationships with someone. I believe that when two kindred spirits find one another in life, they are soul mates. I believe that my best friend and sister-in-law to be is my soul mate. We have been best of friends since October 29th of 2009, so that would make 4 years and counting. We don't always get along and we have stopped contact with one another before because of conflict...but we always have that longing to be in one another's lives; just to know what the other is doing...to know that the other is happy. If I was sure about what happens after we die, I would say that I was her sister in a past life. People ask us if we're sisters a lot. We know each other so very well from the inside out, things that we haven't even told each other about ourselves but we just know. We can't lie to one another. Our hearts and souls see all.

Why do you believe that? It is mentioned in Luke, Chapter number 10, verse number 36 which says:

"Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection."

In this verse Jesus says that resurrected bodies are spiritualised, a spiritual body cannot die anymore and cannot be given in marriage. He's giving a definition of resurrection. So why was Jesus disguised as a Gardner? He was afraid of the Jews. If he was a spirit, why be afraid. It is further mentioned in John, Chapter 20, verse number 17 which says:

"Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father"

Why touch me not? Because he was in physical pain, all the ordeal he suffered. Resurrected bodies can't feel pain. It is mentioned in Luke, Chapter number 24, verse number 39:

"Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have."

Is he trying to say he's a resurrected body? "it is I, myself". The disciples were afraid because they had heard that Jesus died and Jesus goes to them and proves he didn't. "for a spirit hath not flesh and bones" He's trying to say he's not a resurrected body (spirit) but he is flesh and bones.

The best you can say based on the Bible is that he was: Resuscitated! When someone dies for a short while at the hospital and they bring him back, the person is resuscitated, not resurrected but again, we have no clues that he ever died based on the original manuscript. We know that he was taken off the cross in a hurry because of the Sabbath, and, it is hard for someone to die on the cross in a few hours.

That's the thing, what evidence do we have based on written scriptures thousands of years ago? If resurrection is in fact true, how about the canonized saints and martyrs who are also holy? How come they were not resurrected? In this modern day and age none of these written details in the bible has happened to anyone who has been trying to live a holy life so what proof do we really have nothing right? We cannot just blindly believe in everything that the bible says without researching more into facts and proving these facts by testing. It is like following a teacher blindly about a specific theory that has no known proof.

We know that the miracles that Jesus made were time bound, meaning that, they might have occurred or they might have not occurred, but we can't prove them now because all evidence is gone. The only miracle that is not time bound is the Bible itself, and, it was shown that the Bible is no miracle because it contains over 50,000 documented errors. Same goes for the Qur'an, say Hadids, Wedas, Upanishads etc.

According to both the Bible and the Qur'an, when the world ends, it's the day of resurrection, where all the dead are resurrected for the judgement day. If you look at the Qur'an alone, NOBODY can be resurrected before the day of judgement. The resurrection of Jesus contradicts every known scripture, even the Bible itself. In fact, it is mentioned in the Qur'an, in Sura An-Nisa, Chapter number 4, ayat 157 to 158 which says:

"That they said (in boast), "We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah";- but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not:-
Nay, Allah raised him up unto Himself; and Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise;-
"

What the Muslims did was, they read the original manuscript and realized there is NOTHING in the Bible that proves any of that. Not even Jesus' crucifixion. When Jesus was crucified, all his disciples forsook him and fled...imagine that, at the time he needed them MOST! They all fled, as it is mentioned in Mark, Chapter number 14, verses 50 to 52 which says:

"And they all forsook him, and fled."

So who's the eye witness there? No author who took part in writing the Bible witnessed that event. So there's big problems, if you don't believe in any scripture on Earth, you don't miss on anything big.

Can we simply put this as dualism mean we have souls, and dualistic means no we don't?
I think this fits in from all dimensions by putting it in the simplest form. Would love to hear your thoughts.

Well I think a person can feel a soul or spirit, its the thing that causes genuine true feelings about something or someone, and you just know its right. Like a subconscious almost. Some say it's what gives you the difference in whats right and wrong - that guilty feeling - or when anything simple, true, right, positive, etc, causes a real feeling in your body.... Sooo people who are less in touch with themselves and the universe, lose touch with their soul..... Also, it is said the soul/spirit is your aura for the other realms we cannot see, bound by the physical body.....

My opinion is that we do have souls.... some unexplained phenomenons, unanswered questions about nature and dreams while sleeping, give clues to otherworldly stuff that is bonkers, just saying anythings possible. I control my feelings, force the calm...when I remind myself, it is what it is - go with the flow - You can only control yourself so if you do what makes you happy, you radiate a pleasant vibration that attracts people. - - That is easily achieved by people who believe everything happens for a reason, we all have self-will and our own roads, but you just accept everything, without compromising your beliefs/values or happiness... *Not meant to sound selfish and conceded because part of what makes me happy is when my loved ones are happy.... anywho
I am at peace and can be ^that way, by knowing my soul carries on. :D

That's a chunk in your brain called the human amygdala, very vulnerable to nicotine, especially high doses. Your subconscious too is vulnerable to nicotine, nicotine gives you abnormal dreams (not nightmares, most are good dreams, abnormal here means other than what you're used to dream).

Dualism means we are awareness with an ego. Awareness is next to godliness and ego doesn't really exist, yet ego tries to make us feel separate and different.

Duality is that you are the ocean and the drop simultaneously.

^ Try putting a nicotine patch on before you sleep.. You will most definitely remember your dreams.
