Basically what it says. Not a rec drug question though. The doctor says they dont cause weight gain but i dont trust him really

If it's an inhaled corticosteroid then the possibility becomes more plausible, including a chance of aromatase induction.

Which steroid though?

Albuterol inhalers can actually do the opposite, because Albuterol is related to the steroid "Clenbuterol", which causes thermogenisis, which burns fat.
Albuterol also increases heart rate. Believe me, you don't want to hit an albuterol inhaler a bunch of times or your heart will feel like it's gonna blow out of your chest.

But albuterol inhalers are the only kinds of I have any experience with.

I suppose it depends on which steroid inhaler you're using.

Albuterol and clenbuterol are not steroids at all. Corticosteroids (CS) are a particular type of steroids, very much distinct from sex hormones and androgens most here are familiar with. Cortisol, aka hydrocortisone, is a CS and is essentially the canonical endogenous CS in humans.

Will a CS inhaler cause weight gain? I think it's possible under some circumstances. It probably depends a lot on how often its used and on individual differences that affect the distribution of the drug(s) and how you respond to it. Systemic CS definitely cause weight gain in some people but not all.

As a warning, CS can cause dependence with some possibility of severe and extremely long-lived withdrawal. Unfortunately, the medical establishment often assumes that locally administered CS in the form of inhalers or topicals applied the skin don't cause these problems which are well known to occur with systemic CS use, but in practice, locally administered CS can still cause very nasty withdrawl syndromes, worse than just about anything. I'm speaking partly from personal experience here having used topical steroids as directed and discovering way down the road just how much these things have been fucking up my body and mind and how hellishly bad the withdrawals can be. Also from experience, topical steroid withdrawal has caused me to lose a lot of weight despite eating stupid amounts of food.

Of course being able to breathe is critically important, and so one must weigh the serious risks of using these drugs with the necessity of treating whatever condition you have. I am not a doctor and so obviously cannot advise you on the best course for you.
