Benzos Do some people have natural tolerance then others for certain benzos?

Basically I have been taking Xanax (Alprazolam). I have no tolerance, and I need at least 3.5 mg to feel anything. I am 5'8(9) and around 165 pounds (male). Is there a reason why some people exactly the same body structure as me get totally whacked out at 1mg or 2mg while for me I hardly feel it? Does anyone know why this is?

u havent taken any other benzos or gaba type drugs before this??if so, u seem to have a very high natural tolerance...when i first started 0.5 mg i could feel it..

Yeah, could you clarify also what it is you're feeling?

I know that when I first started experimenting with benzo's I was expecting a very noticeable buzz like opiates have, so when I took a milligram off of my first bar, I was dumbfounded as to why I wasn't feeling high. I the proceeded to take the other milligram, and for a while would take multiple bars at a time trying to experience a noticeable high. This only lead to blackouts and embarrassing phone calls. I learned quickly that Xanax does not blow you away with euphoria like heroin or cocaine, and that it's effects are rather subtle. IMO, Benzo's are really only recreational in that they make you less anxious, and slightly lower your inhibitions. With no tolerance, taking more than .5-1mg is only going to increase sedation and your chances of blacking out.

Definitely. When I first started taking benzos I ate a box of flurazepam (27x30mg) in 2 days and I was just a little stoned. I had zero tolerance and had never touched a benzo before in my life.

I had been drunk a few times and done ghb a few times, but that was atleast half a year prior to eating the box of flurazepam.

Natural tolerance is definitely a valid phenomenon, but is not the norm, so first timers should always start on the lowest prescribed dosage, ex: 0.25mg for Xanax or 5-10mg for Vicodin/Norco. Taking 27x30 flurazepam (Dalmane) is dangerous for a first timer, and it is not a recreational benzo since it is only a partial agonist at the BZD receptor, the only non-full agonist BZD prescribed in the US, as far as I know.

I think that naturally anxious people, whose "pure" anxiety disorder is based on lower GABA transmission rather than with excess DA as is the case with schizophrenia, psychosis, and bipolar (also NE and 5-HT), that these GABA-transmission deficient people will get a much better result when using benzos at therapeutic doses, versus the schizophrenic person taking bars of Xanax to relax when all they really need is to stop abusing recreational drugs that increase DA, or start using neuroleptics to decrease excessive DA as needed.

Basically, if you are schizophrenic, bipolar, or psychotic, look in to other medications that deal with non-GABA allosoteric modulation before jumping right in to benzos, as they might not be treating the true neurochemical source of your anxiety, and just masking it through high doses of benzos by making you too fucked up to notice non-GABA-related anxiety.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, this is just a quick hypothesis.

Of course some people have natural tolerance. I'm not sure what you were hoping to feel, or how you have no tolerance if you've "been taking xanax" but I would implore you to reconsider whether it's worth it. You're taking a huge dose. What are you hoping to feel by taking that much? What happens at 3.5mg that doesn't happen at lower doses?

Body structure, weight, and height really is irrelevant IMO. Taking that much benzodiazepines should have a negative effect on your memory and cognition.

Why can't I feel the effects from Xanax and Oxycodone combined with no tolerance?

I know my own body; accept for this time. I have 4mg of Xanax in my system with no tolerance (most people would be tired or passed out by now, yet I feel no tiredness; relaxation yes, but no somnolence. Now I just took 5mg of oxy (no acetaminophen or caffeine, just pure 5mg oxy) Right at this moment I feel nothing, I seems that the people earlier in this thread and or in other threads are right on this matter. It seems that the effects from both are sort of negating each other then embarrassing the effects of each other (is this true or just a myth?). This is the real serious question I am wondering about. Why am I not feeling any kind of euphoria!?!?!..... Could it be because I am on an SSRI (Escitalopram/Cipralex; <---- Brand name; (lowest dosage 10mg (hopefully going down to 5mg, but the doctor said 5mg is almost like placebo because it is such a small dose, supposedly they do not prescribe 5mg for any kind of depression/anxyiotic/obsessive compulsive disorders.)

I have taken a pure oxy 5mg with a Tylenol 3 (so it can feel like a Percocet) which as all of you know is 325 acetaminophen, 15 mg of caffeine and 30mg of codeine. When I take a Tylenol 1 with the 5mg oxy it feels like a Percocet. But when I take the 5mg oxy with a Tylenol 3 (5mg of oxy with 30mg codeine, 15mg caffeine, and 325 mg) it feels weaker then taking it with a Tylenol 1? Is that just me? I heard codeine gets metabolized into morphine once it gets digested; is this true?
But my main question is…………..WHY CANT I FEEL THE EFFECTS FROM XANAX AND OXY COMBINED WITH NO TOLERANCE? When people all over the web (including here) talk about respiratory depression, while in my reality I haven’t felt a damn thing? Could it just be my body is different?
Thank you for the contributions so far and please keep it up, I would greatly appreciate in every way possible. I have had many life saving moments in my life because of this site! So I thank you sincerely from the bottom of my heart (Just had to put it out there)

PS. I have wrote this whole thing while on these medications, and as you can see, I am making sense and am taking it most of you on here can thoroughly read this post with ease, compared to some posts on here (or any other harm reduction sites for drugs) that people post when there whacked out of their minds and you can tell this is not one of those times. So hopefully you guys on here can give me some great input.

Thank you again Bluelight, and have a great day.

Everyone's body is different. Respiratory depression still applies to you, whether you feel the drugs or not, it doesn't make it safe for you to be combining benzodiazepines with opioids, you really should not be doing that. Most people report diminished desired effects when combining them anyways, so that probably blunted any euphoria you would have gotten with the opioids alone. Seriously stop mixing such potent CNS depressants, you may not be feeling positive effects but I assure you, you are not invincible to the negative effects, most importantly CNS depression.
