Opioids Do opiates slow resting metabolic rate?

Hey guys, hope you all had a great Christmas :D

I tried searching BL and google for this but found very little: I know that opiates slow peristalsis; i.e. that they cause your body to digest food more slowly. Does this mean that the body is burning fewer calories per day if one takes opiates on said day? I am currently on a diet and exercise regimen and I'm wondering if opiates can interfere with this even if I'm working out all the time and eating really healthy (aiming for a net calorie deficit of around 900-1100 calories a day).

If anyone has the information which has eluded me, I would be really thankful. I doubt anybody has specifics, but if opiates *do* cause the body to burn fewer calories in a day, any idea how many fewer calories might be burnt? I know this would be variable because the quantity and frequency of use would probably be factors, but I figured I'd ask in case anyone had a ballpark estimate based on something scientifical-ish, or if not that, experience.

Thanks a lot guise!!
Peace <3

In theory it sounds possible because opitaes are a CNS depressant and if they slow down my heart rate, lower my blood pressure and slow my breathing as they often do then it is also likely that other vitals controlled by the ANS and CNS are also slowed down but usually the digestive effect is more of a "supressing hunger" so considering that you could eat on opiates then I would assume it would "cause your body to digest food more slowly"

Yes, they slow down metabolism and interfere with a number of functions needed to stay in shape. If you're serious about your goals, you won't touch them again.
