Do opiates keep you awake?

I apologize in advance if this questions has already been asked.

Some people say that opiates made them sleepy and tired etc. However, I find I have trouble sleeping when taking them.

Does anyone else experience this? They seem to make me stimulated and productive.
 
I know many people who have this effect from opiates such as hydrocodone mostly. I seem to experience this whenever I only ingest hydrocodone though, same with them. quite common actually.
 
This is a wierd one for me, sometimes they make me sleepy sometimes they don't, I'm guessing thought it's they actually do make me tired, it's just they make me want to stay awake and do stuff, I'm talking about H really as thats all I use.
 
Depends on the dosage and opiate being used. Oxy makes me feel a little more awake while most other opiates mellow me out. Ofcourse in higher doses they usually just put me in a awake/asleep limbo aka nod.
 
I like that, with me, it acts as a stimulant of sorts and doesn't make me anxious. Ecstasy does the same thing to me.
 
when i snort a nice bit of hydromorphone, i notice some rushing and then nodding
 
I find Oxy gets me going, but when I come down I get hella sleepy. That's just Oxy though. Add alcohol to the mix and it's nod city.
 
Opiates keep me awake, but for all intents and purposes I may as well be asleep - just in that limbo that cocacrazy described - really intense daydreams but not real sleep.
 
^ Lately I have been getting this so bad with codeine, all other opiates I tend to get a solid sleep but lately with codeine (by far my most commonly used opiate/opioid) I keep nearly passing out and having intense daydreams. I have been thinking it is the DXM and antihistamines I use to potentiate it but I have always used antihistamines and it never happened when I started with DXM, you would think if anything it would of happened to begin with and I would of built up a tolerance to the daydreamy effects. Sometimes I think I am somewhere completely different to where I am.

The intense daydreams only happen while I am really high off the codeine, but strangely where I used to find codeine gave me the best sleep ever now it is always a broken sleep where I wake up several times throughout the night. Even more oddly, I usually use diazepam with codeine, which usually helps me sleep alot.
 
opiates never let me awake, usually with a high dose od methadone(300 - 400mg) I nod and black-out..... with morphine ( ~180mg IV) only makes me liltle sleepy
 
I have found when I was snorting OC's, something in my brain was telling me I was tired, but not to go to sleep and waste the high. Once about 2am hit, snorting OC's kept me awake. When I was snorting OC's, I NEVER got a full night's sleep. Now I IV them and sleep like a baby (when that damn girl isn't around)!
 
Most of the time, with oxy or hydro, it will cause me to nod for an hour or two, then drift into a great sleep.

When I get REALLY high, I will go into this state that isn't quite awake, or asleep. It is like super-nodding. I am unbelievably tired, and will just kind of pass out into 5-10 minute vivid dream like sequences, then snap back to a dizzy reality. I can't fall asleep no matter how hard I try at this phase, like I always get woken up all confused and disoriented from a daydream.
 
hydrocodone, oxycodone, and meperidine wind me up like an 8 day clock. i get agitated, aggravated, and irritable from them and totally avoid 'em. methadone can do the same in doses over 100mg/day. hydromorphone has never caused any stimulating effect, at least not yet.

I experience the same thing be it smoking heroin or snorting roxys. I feel normal but awake and alert I roxy will keep me up for 24 hours easily as well as a tin or H. Once I stayed up for 2 1/2 days off of just 2 roxycotins. Smoking H does the same thing. Actually all opiates have the same effect on me as adderal. Never done meth or speed or crystal anything like that so I cant compair them to those drugs. But I have done addies and like I said all opiates have the exact effect as adderall. My friend and me smoked some H one day and he knodded off and I was tired at the time but as soon as I smoked it I was awake and ready to go.
