I am a bodybuilder who vigorously trains, and attains a nice, warm endorphin rush post workout. When i ingest opiates post workout, i seem to get an underwhelming buzz and i feel like ive exhausted all my endorphins already. However, i may get a delayed nod a couple of hours later. Could this be an exhaustion of endorphins already by my own natural production? Is there a natural ceiling effect?

Hmm......very interesting question. I remember when playing basketball or any other sport, I use to get that small rush from endorphins but it didn't last anything as long as some hydrocodone.

As for what feels better at the time, natural endorphins is naturally good but opiates have the overwhelming effects from endorphins, so opiates feels better but isn't the healthy way to go to feel that awesome feeling.

I haven't read up on exactly what you're talking about but it makes sense that your endorphins were working hard from your vigorous workout & have to get back to the place they were before......then I suggest waiting about an hour or 2 to take opiates.
