Opioids Do I Qualify For Methadone Treatment?

Hi.
I have no idea how the methadone doctors work or do things but I was wondering if I qualify for Methadone treatment. There is a doctor around my area that prescribes the methadone pills and my one friend went there and was able to get her prescription. She uses heroin and opiates about the same or a little less than me, and she said she was barely able ot get a prescription and probably the only reason she was able to was cause she was a girl and the doctor was like flirting with her and she showed him her knee which had surgery, or did something to her knee to show she was in legit pain and what not.

I ask this because the doctor appointment itself is expensive, and if I have to pay to go there and get declined, it is a waste of my money. Basically, I have a very high tolerence for opiates currently from the amount I use it. I've used heroin for about a year now, not every day but enough where i do a bundle each time i do it, and that is all within 6hours or so I would use it all. It would take 4-5 roxis, maybe more to make me nod and the only thing that I've taken recently thats made me nod is opana, but i would be atleast 30-40mg of opana nasally to nod.

Recently I've been trying to get off this by using Suboxone. I am not presribed it, i bought them to see if it helps and Suboxone doesn't really agree with me, and wokr with me well. It doesn't take cravings away, because I've still done opiates and a good amount while ive been taking these, if i could get the opiates i would do them. I'm taking them and I don't get high from them. I've taken methadone once in the past about 50mg or whatever of liquid and that helped and agreed with me well, and didnt give me any cravings the whole period is lasted for.

I just have no idea if I qualify, if it would be a waste of time, or basically anything about how a methadone doctor works. It just seems like I would be declined since my friend said she was only able to get it because she was a girl.

How do they do things, I dont really know how to do any of this or .. pretty much anything about this.

Methadone is generally dispensed via clinics rather then private physicians. The only thing required to get on methadone pissing dirty for opiates.

If there is a doctor actually writing prescriptions for it (I've never heard of methadone being prescibed for addiction purposes; only pain) he will have his own specific rules you will have to ask him about.

I thought methadone was for people wanting to get off opiates

Methadone is sometimes prescribed as a taper to get off opiates but is more often used for maintenance purposes. If you are referring to having to fail a drug test for opiates this is so random people don't walk off the street trying to dose methadone to get high.

You need to find a methadone clinic. If you want to taper I would reomend suboxone over methadone but you can do some research and make the decision

Methadone is still a opiate in sense synthetic but w.d. from that's worse than dope in most ppls opinions.

Do you qualify for methadone maintenance therapy? Bluelight isn't a methadone clinic. I can see how that might be confusing.

Anyways, you'll need to talk to an actual clinic so you can either begin treatment, or get onto a waiting list for treatment.
