I have been sleeping only like every other night lately. I just have too much energy to sleep so I stay up instead. Should I try a sleep aid, and if so what kind would some you reccommend?

Hmm, this may be better suited to the health forum. Though is this due to any recent substance use, or has it just come out of the blue? Also, have you ever been diagnosed with any psychiatric problems such as mania, bipolar disorder, etc.. which may be causing this? Also, how long is lately? Has it been going on for a couple days, a week, several weeks...?

Usually when you have trouble sleeping it is due to depression. I can offer this advice. Don't take naps during the day for the obvious reason. Stay away for caffene. If you take a hot bath or shower before going to bed it will help you sleep becase your body naturally gets tired when your body temp. rises then falls. If you can't sleep while lying in bed for more than 30 minutes then get out and do something else. And reading usually does help you rest at night when you can't sleep.
I hope this is helpful.

It is possible you could be bipolar or have an extreme case of ADD. Hyperthyroidism is also a possibility. I suggest you see a doctor or you might run yourself down with lack of sleep.

iv had minor sleeping problems for many years now...they come and go, every few months i will have a strung out week or two when i cannot sleep.
i have found that diphenhydramine works great, and is non-habit forming. tylenol sells it as simply sleep, you can find it mostly anywhere...
