Do drugs sell themselves?

So what do you guys think, do drugs sell themselves? Do you think if large quantities of a certain drug just appears in a city, people will naturally buy and consume it because it's around? For example, often in my group of friends we won't be able to get certain drugs (I would love some acid), so we settle for second choice, then third and so on. I know if my friend had lots of pills we prolly would all buy some and roll, -- lots of shrooms, then we'd be trippin, etc. Are certain drugs forced down the consumers throat just because it's available? Do dealers really just roll up into cities and start heroine epidemics?
I think they sell themselves. What do you think?

Hell Yeah drugs sell themselves...maybe im just a loser, but no ones ever forced drugs on me, and if anyone wants to try, god bless em'
I know in US/other places were most drugs are illegal it all comes down to Supply & Demand, im not sure what its like in the Netherlands though...Id assume if you knew pot/shrooms etc were going to be around forever, you wouldnt have the urge to stock up on them or buy them whenever you could "simply because theyre there."

i am glad to see some drugs dont sell them self that well like heroin or crack which are kind of a no-use drug over here. as time has shown its hard to not sink away in a junky like lifestyle while on these 2. people tend to choose for them self what their dope of preference.
