Do doctor's generally check to see if you filled your prescription?

So I went to a GP last week I was trying to get help for my anxiety and panic attacks, it was my first ever doctor's appointment since I was probably a teenager or so, so years ago. Anyways he prescribed me hydroxyzine but I never got it filled because I was prescribed that a year ago from the ER when I went there for a panic attack and I took it and it didn't help at all so I didn't bother getting this filled. And he never told me what I was getting prescribed he just told me he sent something in to help me, when I called the pharmacy and they told me what it was I didn't bother. So should I just tell him I got it filled and it didn't work or? I live in Arizona btw

No they do not, and you do not have to have a prescription filled just because they write it and it turns out to be for a medication you do not want to take.

But you can just talk to your doctor and request a different medication, or talk to him about different medications for anxiety or panic attacks, and say how you have had that medication before but it did not work for you. Good luck.

Okay because my appointment is tomorrow, and I was going to tell him they didn't work because I know from previous experience they don't. I don't want him to think I'm just searching for narcotics.

Yeah my docs never checked when I had alprazolam, go ahead and try to get something better from him.

depends if your doc actually cares about you or not
my doc checks up on me all the time
when i was being a baby about taking prozac she found out i never picked it up from the pharmacy the first time she gave me a script for it and told me shit
i also have a script for xanax which she checks on it also
i dont use it often so its months before i get a refill and thats the only reason she keeps prescribing it to me because she knows im not abusing it
she flat out told me that if she wouldve caught me getting refill after refill she wasnt gonna help me anymore

that is a good doc if they are willing to go the extra mile to make sure you are not fucking yourself up

ps you dont have to take anything you dont want to you have every right to flat out say i dont want to take that like i did when i got scripted prozac but i did end up taking it but it didnt work lol
just say you took it before at the hospital and it didnt do shit and ask what your other options are
....helpful tip dont flat out ask for benzos many doc will see your intention and deny you
i tried buspar before i got scripted xanax then again i never had any interest in using them for rec use
at the same time if you are only gonna see your GP for anxiety etc build a relationship like i did and make sure you dont lie about anything
itll save you a lot of trouble in the long run
