Do Antidepressants stop the high of other drugs?

Zoloft halts the breakdown of Methadone. There are several other AD's that can cause severe interactions and even death when combined with opiates/opiods.

My oxycodone has been reduced to basically no pain relief. i bet a lot of people OD this way.. as I upped my dose. doubled it to truly check and sure enough no buzz.. no pain relief.. but i vomited and felt sick from taking too muuch

I didnt know how this issue... it happened and thats why i started googling

Its been long enough now that I believe its permanent..

4 low doses of Zoloft totally ruined me.

That's unfortunate that for YOU Oxycodone's effects were ruined by Zoloft.

HOWEVER, that does not mean SSRIs ruin Opiates/opioids effects FOR EVERYONE.

Everyone is different.

Me personally, when I was on Prozac I got high off Oxycodone and Hydrocodone MANY times and now that I am on Lexapro I get high as hell off of Kratom.

That's 3 opiates/opioids and two SSRIs mixed seperately all of which have worked fine for me.

I think there's probably a lot of variables involved, but your story is anecdotal and not exclusive to everyone who mixes SSRIs with opiates/opioids so please don't assume that it is.

I'm on Zoloft and i got high of plenty opiates, morphine, codeine, oxycodone... but with coke the effects are diminished, but maybe because i took neuroleptics too.

I'm on Latuda and lithium for bipolar. I know Latuda at my dose is an antiphcotic but I'm not sure what class of these drugs are under. I should know. But I've had the same problem. I was on Zoloft for a long time and I can remember the block effect was there. I never thought they could be connected till now. I know I'm on a decent pain management sched and I don't get nearly the pain relief I should be and forget about a buzz. I've been on Latuda since May and lithium August. I don't know if these meds block opiates but it sure feels like it. I get about an hr of pain relief from my Dilaudid and that's it and my extended release don't even seem to work. I'm seeing the head of my pain clinic in Jan and he's the perfect person to ask cause he's a pain specialist and a shrink so he'll know. It's not till Jan but I'll ask him and let you all know what he said. Right now I have to look up what class of drugs I'm on. Good thread
