DMT Physical Effects

I recently vaporized a low dose of DMT freebase for the first time. As I was alone with no sitter, I decided to wade in slowly, and only vaporized approximately 15-20mg on some weed in a bowl (I've vaporized other materials like this in the past, so my technique is pretty good for a DMT-noob). While the mental effects were quite strong despite not breaking through, the experience was more uncomfortable than anything because as soon as that indole taste hit my insides I immediately felt like I had to shit, just as the effects came on.

I have had this same experience in the past with the synthetic cannabinoids, especially JWH-018, which has a very similar indole taste/smell to it (I say indole because that's what I've heard that taste/smell is, correct me if I'm wrong), and while the mental effects were very different, I had very similar immediate physical effects (namely a sudden urge to shit).

So my question is, am I just psyching myself into feeling this physical effect because the taste reminds me of JWH-018, or is this a common physical side effect of DMT? I'm hoping at higher doses one is so disconnected that you wouldn't feel such physical effects, but I just don't want to take a larger dose and come to covered in crap. And before anyone mentions going to the bathroom before dosing, I had, but when that taste hit me it was like someone flipped a switch inside me - instant stomach cramp.

There is very little to compare between JWH compounds and DMT so I would forget about any link. I personally don't think they smell anything alike either. Yes for benzoylindoles and naphthoylindoles for example there is indeed a common part of the structural formula of the chemical. Unless compounds break down to the exact same chemicals it is however wrong to assume any relationship between the parent drugs.
Take 25I-NBMD for example, it has a part in the structural formula that is also seen in MDMA, in fact the MD designates part of that common element. The element I am talking about is methylenedioxy(phenyl). But it is wrong to think that the effects have anything to do with one another unless the pharmacology is studied better. This is especially something to remember if the doses of the drugs are way different. You see even if 25I-NBMD would dissociate into 2C-I and an MDMA-like drug the quantities would be so low (at normal doses of the parent compound) that you would not notice 2C-I or MDMA like qualities. For those drugs the dose is sub threshold.

It's said that what makes AMT smell of shit (mostly the freebase) is skatole and that indoles similar to that also have peculiar aroma's, but I find DMT to be more incense-like and nice and flowery while all synthetic chemicals have funky tastes that don't remind me of anything at all personally. It's new to me. Weird stuff.
Also vaporization draws the aroma of the compound itself while smoking results in all kinds of chemical aberrations. It this point it becomes true again that common elements in the chemical structure can become apparent from pyrolytic dissociation.

The urge to take a shit, in my analysis, would come from a mild panic reaction. If someone is overwhelmed in certain ways, this may manifest in the body as defense mechanisms like evacuating i.e. shitting or throwing up. Hunger is typically gone and digestion slows. These are only a few ways our bodies ready us to dump ballast and prepare to escape.
Typically these are also stimulant side effects since chemicals like adrenaline that are mostly associated with such fight/flight/other defense reaction mechanisms are stimulants that are boosted by stim drugs. DMT is in ways stimulating e.g. it significantly increases your heartrate and blood pressure as well as a trigger for a natural psychological reaction of being overwhelming. That psychological reaction is mirrored in the body's reaction in ways like I briefly explained and gave examples of.

Thanks, that's a really good point! I thought of JWH-018 because I thought the taste was kind of similar but especially because of the immediate stomach cramping effect. However, I didn't think about that panic/butterflies feeling in the stomach which is also very similar to the effect I got. I think you nailed it, and my linking it to the effect I got from synthetic cannabinoids was unfounded.

That answers my question, just wanted some reassurance that this wasn't a common effect of the chemical specifically.
