This is my first trip report so bear with me. I am fairly experienced with psychedelics at moderate dosages. I have experimented with mushrooms, LSD, MDMA, and Ketamine. I also smoke cannabis daily. I am especially experienced with LSD as it is my preferred psychedelic(least amount of side effects), although I have not yet explored the high dose range(my highest dosage being ~300-400mcg). I have probably taken LSD 30+ times over the years, mostly at concerts but sometimes alone or with friends. This was my first fully psychedelic experience with DMT. Before this experience I had smoked small amounts about 3 times, all pretty mild experiences comparatively.

I smoked an unknown amount of DMT because my scale is less accurate then I thought and seems unable to measure accurate dosages. I sandwiched it between 2 layers of herb on top of a screen in my bong(with water). I tried a few others ways and this has so far proved to be the most efficient. I am looking into making The Machine (smoking device specifically for DMT) but this will do for now. I estimate that I smoked ~30-40mg. Ok heres the report

I meditated lightly for a a minute or two focusing on my breath, calming my heart rate and easing into a more relaxed state. I then grabbed the bong and slowly roasted the top layer of weed until it lit. By the second hit I knew it was working because it tasted heavily of plasticky tryptamine.

I soon felt an intense rushing feeling accompanied by a high pitched digital sounding tone. The smoke was so harsh I could only take about 2-3 hits. I laid back gasping for air. This is when it gets interesting. I was quickly catapulted into a deep trance in which the thought to open my eyes never even crossed my mind.

Intense thoughts began to stream quickly through my head. I began to experience some pretty intense anxiety during this intital come up. I could see how someone less experienced with psychedelics could panic but I was able to quell these feeling fairly quickly by telling myself to just let it do its thing and try to enjoy it. All psychedelics seem to have an anxiogenic quality for me on the come up. Particularly mushrooms and now DMT it seems.

Once I began to relax and breath normally I was able to focus on the visual effects. Crystalline is a good way to describe the visuals. They consisted of interesting geometric shapes with a transparent overlapping quality. Not too colorful or intense but certainly interesting. They had a distinct quality, different than LSD or mushrooms. They developed and changed at a much slower rate and seemed more organic than mathematical, like LSD can be. This allowed me to study the vision intently and watch it slowly morph and change shape. At one point it seemed to take the shape of an insectoid creature but this could be a result of all the reports I have read describing strange alien entities influencing my interpretation of the visual. With LSD, I usually can exert some degree of control over the visuals. With DMT, its like I have absolutely no control over what im seeing and I'm just along for the ride.

Once I emerged from this trance, I felt some of the most intense feelings of euphoria and bliss wash over me. I have never felt that amazing even from MDMA or opiates. I gasped and moaned at the absolutely sublime pleasure that soaked into my body. Soon these feelings began to fade and I was left with a beautiful afterglow that lasted the rest of the day.

This was definitely an intense experience but I don't think It could be called a breakthrough. I am both scared and excited for my first breakthrough because although this experience was intense on a mental and physical level I was not overwhelmed at all by the visuals. In fact, I have experienced more intense CEVs from ~200mcg LSD. DMT is described as one of the most visuals psychedelics so this tells me that I have barely scratched the surface. I am very excited to explore this chemical ally further.

edit: Fixed. Should be easier to read.

Sorry to double post but, did anyone read this? I'd appreciate some comments/critiques, as this was my first trip report and i would like to know if it's horrible. This trip was very unique for me. The experience is so different from my previous trips. I love being able to instantly reach a deeply psychedelic state and feel 100% normal with an hour.

Also, what are your opinions on using music to guide the trip? I tried listening to some Jazz (Brian Blade Fellowship) and didn't find it to enhance the music much when compared to more conventional psychedelics. In fact, it was mildly distracting although that could change with the dose. Any one have any opinion on this?

I think it could ease some of the initial anxiety but it may also may make for a shallower trip. I don't find DMT to have quite the analytical edge that LSD has so it may not be suited for this purpose. Perhaps it is just to overwhelmingly powerful to apply to the corporeal.

Yeah, next time just try to put it in more paragraphs and it will be a bit easier not to get lost. As for the trip it seems every interesting. I am just starting to get into psychedelics and DMT is definitely on my list. This trip report makes me want to definitely experience the magic for my self. The way you put it does seem to be just scratching the surface. Just make sure not to overdo yourself nextime(you seem experienced though so i doubt that's a problem).

As for the music I don't know. If your so out of it do you think maybe music would be a little annoying. I tend to notice that when im on psychedelics. It amuses me for awhile but gets old pretty quick

I enjoyed the report and thought that your descriptions were very vivid and tangible, and they definitely make me even more excited to try DMT at some point. But was surprised that you didn't measure your dosage more closely; I thought that DMT dosages had to be checked carefully, but I have no personal experience with this. But yeah, nice report.

^Thanks for the feedback guys.

Well my DMT is definitely not 100% pure so weighing it wouldn't be very precise anyway. Next time I will do a better job extracting so I can be more accurate. I started small and worked up to this larger dosage. I placed about 2x as much as my other trips but I only smoked about half the bowl so I'm not sure how much was vaporized. The powerful effects I experienced lead me to think that I got most of it though. This experience was extremely intense but I was not overwhelmed by the visuals. They where nice but I was hoping for more detailed images like I have often seen described.

Note: the report should be alittle easier to read now.

Cool trip report man, theres a lot of great descriptions which i can deffinatly relate to my experiences.

If your finding the music distracting then give it a go in silence next time, ive never tried this myself but i imagine it would be very peaceful.

nanobrain: That seems pretty excessive. The high dose range is reported to be about 40-60mg. I have heard that when you overshoot the dosage, the chemical has more of a vegetative effect and diminishes your ability to remember and integrate the experience.

I actually did take this trip in silence. It's hard to image exactly how music might have changed the experience. The first time I smoked DMT it actually did generate music in my head. It was some strange electronic music with an interesting rhythm. I had been listening to a lot of Aphex Twin that day and it was very reminiscent of that. My other DMT trips where completely devoid of this element.

Hearing music in my head during a trip is something I have experienced with many drugs, particularly LSD. Sometimes I can even gain what feels like perfect control over this music, allowing me to practically compose songs in my head with intricate improvisation. This can be an amazing experience in itself. It seems to occur after listening to music for long periods of time. This would often happen to me after tripping at a show. When I came out of the venue, I could still hear the music playing in my head.

Damn I'm excited for Phish 09.

Bro, i know exactly what you are talking about on the music thing. Music is MY THING when im psychedelicly influenced. Once upon a time, after a couple large, free puddles of liquid i was riding with my friend and the music stopped. We were listening to tool by the way; aenima is absofuckinglutely perfect for lsd. Anyway, the album ended. However, I didnt notice this. In my head i experienced full on improvisation of this music, whilst also experiencing synthesia...basically being able to "see" the music, and arrange the notes how i wanted them in mid air. It was an incredibly novel experience. I recommend it highly. And hey, maybe ill see you at the next conference of dmt entities;)

DMT and music

Sometimes music can be distracting and keep you tied to the reality of the room you are in. It's all in the choice of music though, I always use boards of canada for my DMT journeys. They provide as a very inspiring guide to intense psychedelic journeys for me. Especially the album geogaddi, the first few songs have perfect samples in them which always seem to hold immense meaning to me in that state. The first one just says "the past inside the present" the next one "a beautiful place" and the last one is a bunch of little kids saying bye! bye! somehow i always tend to be coming down when i hear that sample! :) I would defiantly check out the album if you are looking for a beautiful guide.

i beg to differ. with all due respect, i remember every single one of >300 hypershamanic dose DMT/b.caapi voyages. each successive experience is becoming more lucid than the previous one. 40-60 gets you to the circus elf distraction window. 150mg opens the galactic activation portal for accessing the quantum universal hologram. 200mg is White Light, roughly subjectively equipotent to 30,000ug LSD. with significant and lasting health benefits.

though 4 grams in 3 hours is overshooting even for the most disciplined biorobot.

but i spose if you run 3-D full motion rendering on a Pentium 1 with 16 megs of RAM you indeed may experience a rather vegetative state of performance indeed.

^Sorry, I wasn't trying to challenge your experience. I was only curious because this is the first I've heard of someone using such a high dose. I suppose the 200mg dose is akin to a thumbprint of LSD. I feel like I would probably go into a trance before I could smoke all that though. I suspect the B. Caapi provides a lucidity that allows you to recall things much easier and probably makes high doses less frantic and overwhelming. Strassman does mention diminishing returns at a certain level but that was with IV and no MAOI.

Also, will any form of b. caapi work for this? Root or leaves? I have some yellow ayahuasca vine that I could use if that would work.

Music and DMT go so well together, but silence is good too. That high-pitched whine you heard can become music at higher doses, which you hear with your ears and not in your head, if that makes sense. When selecting a song, pay attention to it's length. Songs that stop during the visions will affect the visions dramatically, to the extent of whatever was happening will stop altogether with the music. As the next track starts, a new vision will slowly emerge. It's something to play around with.

Anyways, that was a good trip report and it reminds me of my first time actually getting a decent effect. It seems that DMT works better the more you use it, and this may be a combination of reverse tolerance and improved smoking techniques.

Smoking it can be a little tricky, I guess. If you want an easy way to breakthrough, take a trip like the one you just described and wait until the afterglow sets in. Now smoke the same amount as before. This should cause a breakthrough.

The breakthrough experience will be completely different, and considering your psychedelic experience is similar to mine at the time I had my first breakthrough, you may find the effects quite unlike any psychedelic you've ever tried. It may seem to transcend the definition of psychedelic. I even forgot that I had taken DMT. This level of experience is less recreational and more exploratory, and this is the level where people encounter entities and seem to travel to alternate dimensions. I would definitely recommend it when you feel ready for that.

Interesting report.

Do you think that if someone is having some psychological issues going on (recent break-up, recent kicking of opioid addiction) would experience a lessening of these effects as they entered the DMT trance or do you think it would increase the feelings of difficulty?

I'm uncertain that DMT can be that accurately classified in terms of effect/dosage. That's my experience anyway

Start low & see how you go I suppose

Exactly...40-60mg to one person can seem like 200mg+ to another...you're playing with fucking fire here, it's not LSD...and that's hot enough. I've so far maybe hit a ++.5 (plsu 2.5) on the DMT scale.. I use instrumental music only for it, and usually no music, just white wash sound, if any. There definately seems to be a pattern of people going into mad trances "along for the ride"...then you start to come to and realize all the synchronicity that just went on and is always going on. A great trip report btw...reminded me of when I first started doing it not too many months ago. You'll see entities all the time, just fucking flow with it...DMT won't really give you a choice anyways...on the flip side, imo, I sincerely believe if you treat the sacrament with respect and you respect your own mind, it will show you "only enough"...in this particular view on it you will only go higher and get more out of it...there's definately no need to rush to the top of the mountain. Enjoy.

Good to hear you loved your first trip through DMT land, i'm sure you'll be getting to no the place better in years to come.

Different people respond differently to dosage... there is a point at which most people "black out", can't remember anything... if you can find the window just below that point, then this is about the highest dose you can take while having recall.

Juliann.

I have had a few more experiences with DMT since this one. I just recently bought a VaporGenie specifically for DMT and tried it out this morning. It is so perfect for smoking DMT. I highly recommend it to anyone who hates inhaling that harsh smoke. It's 100x better than smoking it through a bong. You can barely feel the vapor going into your lungs and it's very easy to inhale several lungfuls. You should not need more than 2 or 3 hits to get the whole amount.

Makes the whole experience so much more attractive when you don't feel like you lungs have been seared.
