DMT In Australian Plants

Hey everyone.

I live in NSW and I believe the Golden Wattle is native all around me. I have contacted a few professionals etc and other various sites but have gotten no response from anyone. I'd like to know what it looks like (the plant containing DMT) and the possible dangers. Possible dangers being, if I use something that looks similar to it I'll have a heart attack or something.

I don't need extraction methods or anything I can hunt that down myself, and I wont bottle neck you guys with questions :).

There just seems to be very limited information about it in Australia. I believe this could be the governments working...
 
It got nothing to do with the government. There is a true lack of info because most acacias have not been subjected to analysis. For what its worth, I don't think that acacia pycnantha (golden wattler) contains DMT.
Acacia Obtusifolia is a good source but for many people, trying to harvest material of a tree ends up killing the tree. Its better to just leave them alone...

I appreciate the time you took to respond. Although it's possible that you're right, considering the evidence I've been given I tend to disagree. It is used differently here I believe, from what I've researched the DMT is contained within the Golden Wattle flower (not the bark) and you can smoke it or use an extraction method. I read somewhere that a small group of friends were trying to have these questions answerd too and also believed that there had been no research. That is not true, it was very low-key when they were studied and the foundings were public I believe but you'd have to dig through archives to find it. The difference is they were collage students who knew what they were looking for..

If me taking DMT from a tree would kill it, by taking off new bark or ringing a tree, I would refuse to do it simple as that. I love nature, I frequently plant trees, rescue animals in the spring (I have a scaley breasted lorikeet that fell out of its nest as we speak) and believe the ONLY reason carbon is a problem nowadays is because of deforrestation (over 90% of the worlds forrest is now gone). I would only practice methods that I've read up on concerning the actual flower. Please do not assume that I am some trip-junkie tree murderer :P. I love tree's more than most my friends.
 
Are you referring to acacia pynantha (golden wattle, Australian emblem) or acacia longifolia (smetimes called sydney golden wattle)...?
 
Oh sorry, Willow, I should of been more specific, I ALWAYS do that -_-.

From my very basic research I believe the plant I'm refering to is the acacia pynantha, and that it can be smoked (though I've HEARD that it doesnt have TOO much DMT in it) OR can be extracted, just from the flower or leaves I believe. Again, thank you so much for responding, I really appreciate it. If any of my info is wrong, I have no ego on the subject - More than willing to start my research back at square 1 haha. It's SO HARD to find answers though :S and I've been trying to get in contact with Aussie shamans for about a week now...
 
Dr. Shulgin talks about Australian plants containing DMT in the first part of Tihkal, have you read that? There might be some info for you I could dig up.

I really don't remember much from Tihkal, but he definitely mentions that plants have varying alkaloid content depending on the time of year. So who knows. He also talks about how little research has been done in this feild 8)

I'll post up whatever info there is soon.
