I've been reading about all sorts of things on Bluelight and elsewhere for months now. Even tried some cactus. I've mentioned all the 'discoveries' to my friend, B, who became fascinated with extracting DMT from root bark. He laid out the money for high end chemicals and gear and produced some very fine looking crystals, no yellow at all. He also made a great little vaporizer.

B sampled first a few days ago and told me I had a lot to look forward to. I've been reading trip reports and watching videos etc. for a while so I understood the administration basics and that I would be getting a very fast come up.

I'm middle aged. I've never had a full-on visual LSD trip. Ditto for mushrooms/mescaline.

I started my first DMT experience with about a 25 mg hit. I took three pulls in total off the vaporizing light bulb/pipe. So far as I can tell, that went exactly the way it was supposed to. By the third pull I was starting to lose it. My vision was distorting more than it ever has before. I let B take the vaporizer from me and began to lay back, as planned.

I still had my eyes open on the sofa...looking up. In my field of vision was the white translucent glass shade over the light on my ceiling. Nope - can't look at that, it looks just like an alien head because there are two screws across from each other for eyes and one screw down where the mouth would be. Then I look at the pseudo aboriginal batik art on my wall. The fringe was on fire. Not bad, but I'm just going to close my eyes.

I had multi-colored geometric patterns that for me looked like colored dominos with each domino split into about six even parts.

At this point I could sense my heart was really pounding fast. That was my perception, anyway. Also, I had the sense that I was not breathing properly...that as I tried to take a breath, nothing was happening. While this was going on I tried to remind myself to breath slowly and evenly. Eventually this breathing 'trouble' passed.

The other things I remember include a red dot in the middle of my field of vision (eyes still closed). And then the tip of my tongue and part of my lips felt numb. I remember saying this slowly to B...as I started to come out of the experience.

I was going to wait for a while and do it again, but I was not too eager to feel me heart racing along once more. As it turned out the mood changed when B got a call from his wife who had spilled and broken all the beakers in the fridge/freezer from his latest extraction. He was pretty upset, so I decided to skip the second experience.

Overall, it was certainly strong, and I can see how it could be a lot stronger. My only concern at this point is healthwise.....whether or not my heart really was racing and whether I should be concerned about that, or whether that's all part of it and there is no real threat to health. Bear in mind, I get pre-drug jitters on E. I become a bit short tempered in the hours beforehand. I was feeling similar before the DMT.

Nice report! Glad to hear you got to experience this elusive gem, and did get some neat visuals :) Anyway, regarding your health, unless you're in pretty poor overall health, you shouldn't worry about DMT hurting you that way. Ya, it's intense physically, more so for some than others, but that aspect shouldn't consume you before you break into ++++ territory. If DMT comes back around, I'd suggest creeping the dose up just a bit. Possibly concentrating on really holding the hits in (even better) as well. Like MDMA, it's an "acquired feeling" in that the more times you do it, the more familiar the come-up is, and the less prone you will be to jitters. If that makes sense.

Actually, I did concentrate on holding in the vapor. I was holding while B was applying the flame under the light bulb to the remaining DMT to get ready for the next bit. As soon as there was something there, I would exhale and take in more. I was likely holding for about 15-20 seconds. He suggested I keep everything moving along (the inhaling, holding, and exhaling/taking in more) because the effects were going to start showing up pretty quickly. The first hit was about all I could manage without coughing. Might have been able to get more on the second and third ones.

I believe that anyone interested in taking DMT should first read Rick Strassman's book DMT: The Spirit Molocule
You didn't post anything about any of your thoughts, feelings, and insights.
Why did you take DMT... just for visuals?
You're heart pounding was what most experience on DMT, you felt concerned about your health. Most are concerned about their life and let go, and then have a death/rebirth experience.

I've heard of the book you mentioned, innerlight. In fact, I have an online copy which I have not yet started to read.

You've asked about my thoughts, feelings and insights. I was not left with an impression that I can remember concerning any of that.

This was a first experience, a chance to for me to get familiar with something different and to see how I would react to it.

Strassmen's book is great. But some of the science he quotes regarding the pineal gland etc is a little bit flakey.

I also think that it is not a bad thing to go into your first DMT journey without too many preconceptions courtesy of McKenna et al regarding the elves, entities and things. There is no doubt in my mind that amazing things can be witnessed with DMT, but I would have loved to have experienced it for the first time without the preconditioning of what I had read beforehand.

Having said that, in retrospect, the many commentaries written about the DMT experience are very interesting to use in the process of understanding what you might have experienced.

Great report. DMT found me later in life to DMT and I was astounded by it's power and bizarre angle.

Hope you can get some more - Peace - Pipp.

I had the exact same problem, on my first attempt, at what I wanted to be a re-connection to the real me, or just an incredible opportunity to experience all that I had read(Mckenna, Strassmen, etc.) about this alternate reality.I, too, am well into middle age, and could not breathe. Maybe this affect becomes scarier when you're a bit older...when in my 20's, I was a pretty experienced tipper. I appreciate your report, as I'm still rattled, but just as fascinated about this .it still "calls" me, but I hesitate to answer the call.

Thanks again...

To answer your question, there have been no recorded fatalities or even troubles from people taking any dose of DMT. (aside from thrashing around)

However, in Tihkal there are records of people's 'heart stopping' after taking enormous doses of 5-meo-dmt. They were all right, and who knows if the trip sitter was just paranoid, but they're in the book.

It scares the sh*t out of me, though! I can hardly see visuals, instead my idea of life starts blowing up or disintegrating or something and I start thrashing around.

yes, it's the same for me, I can't get through it, can't give up on it, either!I come up on e, a tad shaky, though, so I thought it was just my own fears. Don't want to stop trying, though...

... it seems to be 'about' not 'trying'? winks, smiles, yes and no, crying laughter you didn't need to do it but you did it like you did, dont forget the fun Oh yes oh no oh yes oh no oh [faster] *bzzzt* *grinding* *mental music becomes woah* Oh my FuckING G(od9ddOORT *burning light* @Nq#$kd then back off trembling... *Look at coffee table and impulsively chew corner off of it.* *Sends self to bed*

Well, my next move is to get prepared in a different way. I'm not bothered that it might take time to experience DMT when I'm comparatively calm and accepting. Practice and preparation work for most things..I probably need to get in there a few more times before I figure out what kind of adjustments to make.
