I've had a similar thing happen when smoking several doses of DMT in a row, or using DMT too much. I know that any amount of the other crap in mimosa extracts ruin the trip like that.. feeling underwater and everything looks really awful. I never could 100% figure it out though whether it was totally because of the jungle alkaloids or just DMT itself acting really weird occasionally.
Its possible that the DMT had a little of the jungle alkaloids in it (there is other stuff in mimosa extractions that sometimes comes out), but the DMT overpowers it at first until you smoke it many times in a row not leaving at least a day in-between.. and since you have a tolerance to the DMT the jungle stuff takes over... i've had this happen to me.
Greetings fellow travelers...yeah its way back. I just had last week a kind of similar unpleasant experience. While my first 3 try's a few months ago where rather mild (pixelated room like in a 4k high resolution mine craft world with crosshairs and symbols and colors are pastel shaded but intense although the main background color is yellow but you still see the other colors. Before i continue i wanna highlight that i made one of the biggest mistakes you can possible do Not preparing yourself and your setting. I hit the cone of changa after 3 beers and a emotional chat with my Mum.The weird sound this crunchy pitch altering humming and this strange voice making sounds like words but not anything ive ever heard install t a feeling of threat and fear of death in me.The really f'dk up part is that i thought i sat on the bed took the hit put the bong down and sat back to enjoy the ride...man was i wrong.I was catapulted into this room and far beyond into space passing out.So the first thing i started to sense again was i am still in this room and then the sounds and strange vocal sound became louder and the next wave of thread rolled over me.I had my eyes closed and my hands in front of my face but was looking right thru it...i breathed heavenly and after the 4 or 5th wave i finally came back and realized that i was laying on the floor with my head at the foot end of the bed which is kind of a mystery because i found my lighter where i have dropped it in the bed falling backwards.Ok its clear i am not dead....hehehe and after days and days of contemplating what happend and reading many reports like this one here...yhea i screwed it totally and i had to pay the price.I realize this was a few years ago, I'm curious if you ever tried it again.
Anyways, it sounds like a normal dmt trip to me. Why it was so frightening is because you let fear take over. I'll admit that I was scared my first time (I thought I was dying and that I seriously f'd up and I made a terribly wrong decision). DMT will attack that fear and test you. It is not for the weak minded or willed. Now nothing can prepare you for the first time, it's rough, but it loves you and it's trying to make you stronger.
Just know this; dmt is not always fun, it's real and you need to go through pain to achieve enlightenment.
Are you certain it was pure DMT? Do you have the GC-MS oft as sample?
I mention this because twenty five years ago in Amsterdam, I watched someone cut 5-MeO DMT into DMT and LAUGHING as they did so. I guess because they mainly sold to visitors to the city so were unlikely to ever find the vendor to remonstrate.
Now some people enjoy 5-MeO DMT but for some, it produces an extremely nasty set of side-effects. It appears that those who enjoy it don't suffer those side-effects. I'm someone who DOES get the fulll spectrum of side-effects.
I guess it's possible that the people you were with were not among the latter group.
Because for me, there is no such thing as 'too much DMT' in terms of dose. I won't mix it with an MAOI as that can have bad outcomes but when I smoked it, I did use rather a lot. To the point where smoking more in a single bowl did no more - I didn't weigh it, but it had been supplied by a chemist who was also a friend and who provided the GC-MS data... partly to show off their skillz, now I think about
yeah, definitely reads like you 'fought' it in some wayI trust the source...after a lot of contemplating it defo was my reckless act i got scared ,Ego wanted to take control and that was the moment everything went South
yeah me too but i was taken aback by the intensity and although i have quite some experience with other Psychedelic pretty much the hole list but never had Dimi untill end of last year and the time i described was just a few weeks back.I positively enjoy the total loss of 'self' and found DMT to be a very relaxing drug to the point where I have fallen asleep while tripping. As it is, I always advise people to use DMT in a darkened room without any distractions such as TV or music and politely asking anyone present who is not consuming to stay quiet.
But for me at least, the MOST important action was not the acute phase but the improved mood that lasts from weeks to months. I've certainly left it in my stash box (when I had one) for many months without being tempted.
Next time i am better prepared...i feel like there are some answer to be found that i need so the only way is getting it right.Thank you for sharingyeah, definitely reads like you 'fought' it in some way
it's not unusual - the ego doesn't 'want' to let go and dmt can be quite the 'violent' assault on the ego!
put it this way - I'm really glad that I was highly experienced with psyches and 'skilled' at the 'letting go' process when I had my first dmt trip - it would have been like diving into the deep end without learning to swim otherwise
The ego dissolution i know from some OBE's with and without Psychedelics, in the last few years i only had Peruvian torch (prepared by myself) and here and there some Mushrooms...now thatsome more time has passed i am convinced that i had to learn the hard way to pay more respect to this kind of activity's.Istill think I should not have had a few beers before and a dark room like night time and only light from the next room. The Spirits made me pay for my reckless behavior. Peace,Love & LightYour experience does sound a little like an overdose… based on the discussion this is likely it.
Are you very familiar with psychedelics and letting go into an ego dissolution?
