DMT - Experienced - a Tale of poisoning

Yesterday, I woke up at 03:45 in the morning. I went to work, got out and then joined my friend for a few beers and drinks. I got home around midnight, not very drunk anymore, but I had been out all day, and awake for some 20 hours. For some reason, I decided to take some DMT, a home-made MHRB extract of reasonable quality. I guess I thought it would make the day end in a pleasant way - I've smoked DMT before going to bed before.
I eyeballed a pretty big amount into a lightbulb vaporizer and took the first hit. It was pretty disgusting, a bit too hot and dense. I tried to take a second one, but decided to just lay down and take it easy for a while.
Laying on the couch, I found myself unable to breathe properly, or at least forgetting to breathe properly. I started to panic, and basically just focused on my breathing for a couple of minutes, until it was over. At that time, I didn't have time to experience anything but chaotic thoughts. It was like my head had been dropped into a bathtub.
And so: It seems that being tired-drunk isn't the best setting for doing DMT. Also, taking a too big hit may have made my oral cavities, throat and lungs so sore and numb that it caused panic during the experience.

Still, I wonder if taking too much would be like that even if I were completely sober and prepared. Has anyone had an experience like this?

DMT is still overwhelming when completely prepared ...sober. I remember having the same trouble during my first 50mg experience. I was struggling to maintain my normal breathing and found it nearly impossible and this of course triggered a panic reaction, especially when i couldnt use my eyes as i had OEVs so insane it rivaled that of high dose lsd.

I imagine you just need to get comfortable with the experience and dose less next time and build your way up until you realize you will breathe just fine without paying attention to it. Also familiarizing yourself with oral dmt/maoi might help you in future smoked dmt sessions. good luck!

wait so there were no visual hallucinations? That's weird are you sure you did your extraction correctly and aren't smoking some noxious chemical?

at low doses dmt sometimes feels uncomfortable (^and u dont gt visuals, just color enhancement and such)

when i introduce people to dmt i try to make sure they jump in at the deep end. after a few breakthrough trips low dose dmt isnt as uncomfortable anymore and in fact is quite enjoyable.

ofcourse everyone is diferent and responds differently to these chemicals. in fact iv even seen 1 person have a bad trip

were no visual hallucinations? / are you sure you did your extraction correctly

I was really too busy struggling to pay attention, so not really. Everything did appear to be really weird with my eyes open, though - my couch looked "evil" and all that. But no "visionary" imagery, which I usually get.

And the material should be good, I've done it before with pretty good results. However, it's clearly not as good as the synthetic DMT I had last year, so it seems to be somewhat impure. My vaporizer wasn't exactly clean either...
I guess the first hit was simply too harsh, because it caused a nasty coughing/puking reaction. When that was combined with the central effect of the drug, I went into psychological confusion. The "trip" was mostly like my brain had become unable to work coherently, or to control my body even in the autonomous sense. Thus, I call it "poisoning" in the title. It's funny, because I know that DMT is usually quite pleasant for me. The setting wad bad: I was very tired and even drunk, and the decision to do a drug was completely impulsive.
Sorry for writing such a bad report btw, but I've been sort of uninspired for a while.

DMT can be strange I would defiantly try it again.
Sometimes it can give you a bad ride and then the next day it can give you a pleasurable experience.
