I was trying to find any info online, but it seems nobody ran into it. So here is my story:
I was having a high bp, so I took 10 mg of enalapril. Two hours later I decided to smoke some DMT. I am a fairly experienced DMT smoker (50+ trips), so I know what to expect. I usually return from the hyperspace within 5 minutes, and it takes another 10-15 minutes to get back to the baseline.
That time I loaded 30 mg and proceeded. I broke through as usual, it took 7 minutes to come back from the hyperspace, but than something weird happened. It's hard to describe it, but I'll try. I was partially back (my ego returned), I was able to think, but my senses, my memory and the rest of the consciousness were still absent. Imagine you are trapped inside your mind, you are surrounded by the chaos, you barely remember who you are and why you are there. If I said it was scary, it would be an understatement.
Well, at this point my wife realized something wrong was going on, so she hugged me, stroke my head and started telling me something calming. From my point of view it was like she was pulling me out, from the nightmare to the reality. At some point my memory fully returned, I was able to see again, although it took another 15 minutes to come completely back. The aftereffects faded out after another 15 minutes and I was back to the baseline hour and a half after I started.
The overall experience was very close to the one I had with Salvia. The same surrounding chaos and even after the trip I still fell like the reality was not something solid, but just a narrow path surrounded by the abyss.
I don't think DMT action was somehow potentiated, but rather prolonged. And this is exactly what should be expected if one takes MAOI beforehand. I never tried MAOI with DMT, so correct me if I am wrong. But ACE inhibitors are totally different from MAOIs, so I don't see how they can work this way.
And the last thing. A few weeks before that incident my wife told me she had taken enalapril beforehand and she thought it could have prolonged her DMT trip substantially. I tried to research the topic but did not find anything about this interaction, so I dismissed her claim as a coincidence, turns out it was not.
TL;DR: enalapril caused the same effect as MAOI in me and my wife, could it be true or I am just crazy?
