One in 20 children aged 11 have admitted to taking drugs with an estimated 30,000 of them to have taken substances in the past year. Alarming figures show a quarter of children aged 11 to 15 have been tempted with drugs and one in six has taken them. The drugs not only include cannabis and 'volatile' substances such as glue and aerosols but also Class A drugs such as cocaine, ecstasy and magic mushrooms.

One in ten children aged 11 has been offered drugs, according to a report by the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction. Campaigners have warned of the danger of a new generation of drug users whose health could be damaged in the future.

Sadly I can't think of many ways to keep kids away from drugs except to lock them in their rooms and hope they don't become curious.

But I know how to keep kids from becoming addicts and keeping them from losing their health to drugs... It's called proper education... A strange thing that seems to fall short when adults believe that abstinence only education actually saves lives. It's funny how parents can tell their children that meth is bad, and heroin is bad, yet they do not know the basic facts of WHY said thing is bad and what we can do to prevent the "how" from becoming a "now".

Where exactly are they getting all these numbers? All it says on the article is "figures say blah blah blah". Not that I have any trouble believing that young kids these days do more drugs than I do, I just want to know where they are getting these stats.

I call bullshit. They used to give anonomous surveys like this when I was in school. Everyone knew it was a joke and answered accordingly.
