Hello everyone,

Like the title says, DiTM is looking for a new mod. While I have not been a mod here for very long, I can say that it is definitely a fun position- and this is one of the best behaved forums on BL, which makes the job even easier and more rewarding.

To apply, please include the following information in a PM/Private Message to me, Tchort, no later than August 31st (08/31/2009):

-Introduce yourself; estimate how much time you spend on BlueLight and estimate how much time you spend in DiTM when you are on BlueLight.

-Estimate your availibility (how often you are online and able to contribute to BL in a week.)

-Include 1 thing you like about DiTM as it is, and 1 thing you think it is lacking or needs improvement on.

-Explain why you would like to be a DiTM moderator, and write a little about what kind of drug stories interest you the most (i.e. do you like reading news of big or strange busts, harm reduction movement news, scientific discoveries related to drugs, political editorials concerning the drug war/drug policy/etc, any articles related to a specific drug or drugs, etc).

That's it; so from today (07/31/2009) to the deadline (08/31/2009), everyone has a solid month to apply.

Good luck to everyone who applies, I look forward to reading your applications :)

Can I just ask, what exactly are a mods' duties? And does geographical location have any bearing on the position?

DitM is my most-visited forum on BlueLight and the place where I start 99% of my threads, so I wouldn't mind the job... ;)

Your location doesn't have any bearing on the vetting process.

The main duties for a DiTM mod are to:

1) Be active in the forum, posting recent news stories several times a week, responding to other peoples threads.

2) Make sure people basically follow the correct format for posting news articles-

Title

Name Of Source

Date Of Publication

Text body

www.link-to-source.com

3) Update the Front Page with especially noteworthy news and editorials.

Aside from that, the basic mod duties that are the same for every subforum. Editing out sources, insults, spam, etc. Closing threads with articles or stories that have already been posted, moving threads to other forums where appropriate, etc.

If anyone else has any more questions related to the DiTM mod position, please post them. Otherwise, please send me a private message / PM with the information in the first post.

I'm sure that as a Greenlighter, I wouldn't be considered for the position, but it might be useful to post any guidelines in that regard (ie - minimum level or number of posts) if there are any.
