it sucks ass being far away from people you care about 
When I was away from MGS, it was extremely stressful emotionally- meaning the miles apart would deepen the sadness. Eventually the longing becomes more manageable as long as you allow it and look forward to the day you two get to be close physically again. Writing letters (actual paper letters) is great too. 
Impatience can ruin it all, just think of this is time to make yourself better for your s/o.
