Disguised Drugs Gaining Popularity in the Valley

A routine drug bust inside this Terre Haute home Thursday produced some unusal evidence for police.

"The individual stated that it was sour patch kids, and at that time I asked him if it was just sour patch kids or if they were laced with anything like Xanax and he immediately lowered his head and said yes," Shiloh Raulston, a trooper with the Indiana State Police Department said.

20-year old Devin Nunn now faces multiple criminal charges for selling the candy-laced drug.

"They'll dissolve a prescription drug in alcohol and they can either inject the sour patch kids, gummy bears," Raulston said.

Police say there's now obvious difference between pre-packaged gummys and those laced with deadly drugs.

"It's almost like it's intended for kids," Jesse Williams of Terre Haute said.

Neighbors say there are plenty of kids in the area of this latest drug bust.

Williams lives in the neighborhood and has three children.

He was shocked to hear about the candy-covered Xanax pills.

That is a rather ridiculously written article. Love the melatonin reference though! bahahha, doing a sleep-regulating hormone right out in public, the horror. Ignorant fear-mongering.

Swallowing a pill or two is a rather inconspicuous activity so the only reason to do this is to hide it from the cops. And kids crave candy like junkies crave heroin, if the candies are left unattended children may well end up ingesting them. Or even adults with a sweet tooth. Yet another case of the war on drugs putting people in unnecessary danger.

Xanax is pretty much insoluble in water. It also does not affect the mesolimbic reward pathway so it does not produce a rush. It bioavailability is the highest orally.. I think its over 90% orally if I remeber right. So as dots said.. "don't inject Xanax"

But he may have been talking about people injecting the drug into the candy? given how insoluble xanax is in alcohol, i think, each gummy would have little xan in it. This really sounds like a kid playing around to me.

Total fear creating "journalism" and cop propaganda.

I believe this is what he was referring to. I was under the impression that alprazolam was reasonably soluble in ethanol.

I actually considered this exact same method when I ordered etizolam, I was having trouble coming up with other ways of preparing it so that it could be dosed precisely and surreptitiously in public. Unfortunately the batch ended up being bunk (or I can't metabolize etizolam, either one), so I never had the chance to experiment.

/smh

If they're shocked by this, they'll be having heart attacks at what's to come because this selective (discriminatory) war on drugs minority groups continues after 4+ decades of no progress.

Funny, there's been LSD "laced" sour patch kids going around here recently. I put the term laced in quotes because it's not like they are being givin to non consenting people, it's just been a particular batch circulating. And I live in the actual valley in LA lol that's what I thought this article would be about not somewhere in Indiana.
