Stimulants Discussing recreational drug use with a psychiatrist. Also concerned about ADD/ADHD

my xanax script literally got ripped from under my feet like a rug when my mom told my shrink i smoked weed every day... fuck that

That sucks. I may have already mentioned all of this on this thread, but whatever, I don't remember. My psychiatrist is actually really chill; they say she's good with teens and I can see why. I told her on my first visit that I smoke weed weekly, and she found it pretty normal for teenagers to do so. She didn't tell me to stop or anything, and on the next visit she prescribed me Adderall. She also kind of put some sense into my mom, telling her that it certainly isn't life threatening and that the only adverse effect that cannabis may have with prescribed drugs is that it could lower the effectiveness of it, since they are sometimes competing for the same receptors. She even asked me if I've tried a friend's AD/HD medicine before and if it worked for me. I told her that I hadn't, which was true. Oh and I don't plan on using Adderall recreationally at all, because it's actually helping me stay focused, I don't want to run out of pills, and I don't want to raise my tolerance too much. And thus so far I have not experienced any euphoria nor other "high" feelings, it just makes me more disciplined and keeps me on task. :)

EDIT (I just keep feeling the need to add to my thread! Sorry if I get too redundant.):Also I noticed that since I've started, I don't really have a desire to use recreational drugs, other than weed. Recently I was kind of on a psychedelic binge over my Thanksgiving break, and now I just feel like I wanna take a long break from them. It also could be due to the fact that I had a really bad Shroom trip (hippie flip) in which I had to take a Valium to abort it (I still had intense visuals, 8 hours after the first dose). So that may also add to the fact that I want to stray away from them for a while. But it's weird, I used have a mindset more like "I love drugs!", but recently I just feel "meh" about recreational drugs. I still smoke weed though, it's definitely not as taxing as psychedelics, and also I noticed a very slight suppressed appetite from the Adderall so weed helps. I can still eat breakfast, lunch and dinner, but I don't have the enormous appetite that I did; it just seems like a regular appetite. Weed also helps me throw in an extra, larger "fourthmeal" before going to bed, and it also helps with the slight insomnia I get from the Adderall (and I normally have bad insomnia anyways).

Any input on your guys' experiences with Adderall and dosage/frequency as well as any other things you've noticed about the medicine would be appreciated!

my psychaitrst asked me if i used any hard drugs, i said i used to smoke marijuana, drink back in high school and i would throw in a lil mushrooms for honesty...first question he asked me b4 he wrote me adderall/dexedrine is if i have a history of cocaine use...DENY ALL HARD DRUGS, they dont care bout weed "back in the day" or alcohol. cocaine use=no speed

Interesting in New York, perhaps Virginia's laws are different (or I've just never had an experience where a psych did that).

Back on topic...to the OP, play it safe, at least for the first few visits.

u would be amazed at how easy it is to get a script of addy/dexedrine, just as easy as getting ibuprofen 800mg at the docs, weird...most docs think of addy/dexys as a medication that really helps addicts and trouble makers. my OLD shrink knew i was on suboxone, he let me choose what stimulant i wanted and what dose-he was so dumb he didnt even know the doses they came in, had to look in a book lol, just havent had the balls to ask for more then dexedrine

Yeah, I feel like the only reason my doctor was hesitant to give me Adderall was because she was unsure about how it would react with another med I'm on. But once I went back and told her the Wellbutrin didn't help at all, she looked online for the drug interactions of Adderall plus one of the other meds I am on, and she immediately prescribed me it since she didn't find anything about inverse reactions with Adderall and the one med I'm on. Even then, I'm still surprised she prescribed it to me knowing that I smoke weekly.

yep, amphetamines are easily and overprescribed, i still dont understand why docs, shrinks tell me it helps drug addicts stay out of trouble, etc...being on it

Haha well actually, as I said in an earlier post, since starting the Adderall, I have no real desire at all to use recreational drugs at the moment. It's like my obsession with drugs just went away. (And by obsession, I don't mean like I was addicted to anything, just the subject in general intrigued me.

It is really easy. And indeed Adderall and Dexedrine has caused me to stay out of trouble, and also had to look at the amounts they came in. I don't think its from being stupid, its just being from nonstandard practice.

Stimulants are the recreational drug that American doesn't quite look down on as much, because they really do make you work harder.

I don't really think there is better than Dexedrine, its probably the best you can get, meth yes you can also get, but at that cost and the RoA being oral, well its not worth it or so I am told, and most people switch back.

a doctor can RX you a CII drug more then one time in a month, for example, i was RXed Adderall 20mg IR, once daily, called a week later and said it wears off too quickly, they had me come in and pick up "Adderall 20mg XR", 2 weeks later i called and said it lasts to long, seen the doc, and got Adderall 15mg XR..true story,...docs can RX CII more then once in a month, dosages got to be different, MDD
