Discontinuing Oxycodone advice

So I've been taking 20MG's of Oxycodone (four 5/325 Percocet), twice a day for about three weeks now.

I had my wisdom teeth out and I was taking the percs for legitimate reasons. So I'm not using it for recreational reasons, I was taking more than I'm supposed to though. The doctor told me to take one every 6 hours as needed, but I've been taking four as one didn't really do anything for me. Also, the pain stopped about a week ago so I guess I have been using them "recreationally" but I wouldn't say I have psychological addiction issues.

Anyways, I have enough for tomorrow, but then I'm going to be out of the Oxy. It's probably for the best to be honest. I'm a little disappointed, but it was fun while it lasted. Anyways, I was wondering how severe the withdrawals from a months use of Oxy is going to be? I'm not too worried to be honest, but I want to be prepared.

I've withdrawaled from Hydro after half a year of use before and that wasn't all that fun. It felt like I had the flu for about a week, and then it felt like I had a bad cold for another month after that. But I got through it.

I know Oxy is considered stronger than hydro so should I expect WD's on that caliber? Or is a month of use not long enough for it to be that bad?

If I have to, I might go out and get some Loperamide and taper with that. But I don't want to waste the money if it's not gonna be bad.

What does everyone else think?

A month of 40mg/day should give you some flu-like symptom, a little lethargy and some restlessness for a week. I've been through many-a oxy w/d's and honestly cold turkey is the best way unless you're at a ridiculously high dose.

Loperamide has its own withdrawal so be careful with that. Supposedly it's a pretty bad w/d aswell, eventhough only the physical w/d symptoms really manifest in lope w/d.

you shouldn't have any problems kicking that habit for two reasons:
1. 40mg a day is an incredibly small dose/habit to kick, if you were doing 160-240mg you would be in for a bit of a ride but, 40mg a day ain't much you'll be straight
2. you've only used for 3 weeks if you used for 1-3 years it would be a bit more problematic but, given that you've only used for 3 weeks you'll be straight
So as you can see due to the low dose and the short duration of your use you should be fine, melatonin or benzo if you can't sleep, drink lots of fluids, eat lots of food flush your system, exercise if you can and sweat it out, maybe take something for diarrhoea if you get any, honestly the symptoms should be minimum if there are any

SwampFox, you were given a month's supply of oxycodone for just wisdom teeth? That's complete overkill lol, you got EXTREMELY lucky to get that much for just wisdom teeth. But on to your question, it may suck, I was physically addicted to opiates after 5 days use, my first run, and the withdrawal was horrible. Not full blown, but definitely uncomfortable.... it depends, person to person, but based on the fact that I am an oddball, I think you are going to be ok... it will be a bit discomforting, but don't be putting it in your head, psyching yourself out and making it worse than it is. Exercise, eat healthy, and fluids! Exercise is MOST important!!! You really need to feel those feel good endorphins in your head, as you're going to lack them for a bit and I find that to be the most discomforting symptom. Good luck, and don't expect anything, just roll with the punches.

Thought I'd give an update.

I did have withdrawals from Oxycodone. It was very intense for the first day. I had horrible hot flashes, horrible nausea (I puked once), aching muscles, etc. It was pretty bad for a couple days. However, compared to my withdrawal from Hydro, it was a lot moe tolerable. But it was still uncomfortable enough to make me want to do a Loperamide taper.

So on the second day of Oxy withdrawal, I went out, bought some Loperamide. I started at 20MG's, was on that for a couple days, then I moved down to 10MG's, then 5, then I was done. At this point, it was a little over a week later and when I stopped the lope, I still had some minor withdrawal symptoms (slight nausea, cognitive impairment, and aching muscles) but it was mild so I dealt with it and within 36 hours, I was feeling fine.

The bad withdrawal at first, did catch me off guard though. I'll have to remember that in the future.
