Disappointed with heroin?

I recently used heroin for the first time (North Eastern US brown powder), and I was not as impressed with it as I had expected to be. I bought a bundle, and sniffed about 1/3rd of a bag to start with followed shortly after (about 10 minutes or so) by another 1/3rd. I use Oxycodone recreationally a few times a week (about 30mg at a time). Don't get me wrong, I really liked it (as I like any opiate high) but I don't know it just wasn't as great as I thought it would be. Comming up on it felt really good. The bundle ended up lasting me 3 days. The first night I got it, the whole second day, and until about 10pm the third night. The whole second day I didn't feel as high off of it as maybe I should have (if that makes any sense). I was just wondering about a possible reason. My friend who is pretty experienced with it said it was decent stuff so I'm thinking maybe it was because my expectations were too high to begin with, or maybe because I never really returned to baseline after starting. I was just looking for any thoughts on the subject. Thanks.

I have never done heroin but for me it seems each individual opiate gets better the more I use it. Perhaps you are the same?

A lot of people build up heroin, and when they first try it they may end up being disappointed. It's simply not as good as its hype : "Take the best orgasm you've ever had, multiply by 1000, and you're still nowhere near it."

Also, it could be an acquired taste, but that's more so the situation with non-opiate users. If one is accustomed to opiates, say OC, the switch to dope is typically seamless.

On average, an intranasal bag of heroin is equal to ~60mg of intranasal OxyContin. That certainly can, and does, vary.

I injected heroin for 3 years (recently quit) and my whole reasoning for starting to use and then ultimately becoming addicted was "I dont even like the high that much, I can quit anytime."

I started sniffing it and then banging it because I wasnt that impressed with its effects so I was hearing if I injected it I would get the whole experience. But even after I IV'ed it I still wasnt blown away...but yet I did it everyday. So soon withdrawal effects reared its ugly head and I was hooked.

yeah watch it though my addiction snuck up on me and I was a slave to heroin, after thinking it wasnt even a great high and it just became maintenance...

so I guess part of me loved the drug.

IV heroin brought me to my knees in just 3 months. I live in the North East also and snortin dope around here never did anything for me (only snorted twice, and felt nothing). Injecting it was awwwwwww yeah. But dont start IVing, it will take you down faster than u know it. After a short time you'll have to use everyday just to not get sick. It just really really sux being addicted to dope. The fun goes away very quickly. Stick to pills if you can.

^ yeah def. really sux trying to hide track marks from others too. esp during the summer

but JEEZ i would kill for some of that east coast powder shit your talking about!! if you were dissapointed in that then you would def. be dissapointed to live in dallas, where all you can get is decent black tar

To become an H fanatic requires persistance.
Compare it to your first cup of coffee, you think "what piece of foul tasting shit drink is this, why does everyone drink it?"
You have to learn the (or any) drug you are new to.
Also sniffing is a lot different from iv use.
For the spirit of harm reduction i would say it's a shit drug, you tried it, you didn't like it that much, move on / away from it. or it will take your soul, mind and then body.:\

i was the same as emily. i thought i would never have trouble quitting heroin, because i "never really liked the high in the first place". i guess i liked it enough though because i kept doing it every day for a lonngg time and i couldnt stop. i guess it kind of grows on you.

good advice.

heroin was a lot different for me than cocaine. I IVed heroin before I IV'ed cocaine and when banged the coke I thought to myself "I thought injecting heroin was supposed to be this intense."

unlike heroin I loved coke the first time

I was disapointed the first time I sniffed heroin as well. Now, the first time I shot heroin? oh my.....

I think you were just expecting too much from the heroin. I think oxy and H each have their pros and cons and one isn't any better than the other. Actually, I find oxycodone to be much more addictive than heroin personally. Heroin is more sedating for me, and can make me nod at a dose of 15mg or so (of pure diacetylmorphine) so I would tend to only want to use it at night or on the weekends, unlike oxy that I could take at any time under any situation.

It's a good thing that you're dissapointed with any drug. Perhaps to the point of never wanting to try it again is an AWESOME thing, especially with heroin.

Be glad. Some aren't so lucky mang.

I wasn't disappointed the first time I snorted heroin. At that point I was experienced with OC.

I was disappointed the first time I shot it. Not that it stopped me. And of course it's my preferred roa.

I was also disappointed the first time I tried rock. I still don't know how someone could like that shit so much to become a crackhead.

Most people do rock twice. Once to fulfill curiousity's sake, and twice to see if it was really that bad....

...and so the tides roll on....and on...%)
