In high doses, DPH inhibits the reuptake of serotonin.
This is a pretty basic statement that ignores the true complexity of the brain's most dense and intricate neurotransmitter system.
Stories of heavy DPH use on BL quickly reveal that the experience is VERY difficult and not at all euphoric.
In fact several have commented that they will NEVER try it again.
They are normally taking 150 - 250 mg to 'trip'.
But they experience only VERY very dark and horrifying experiences.
And it just won't end, either!
For me, I never tripped on DPH.
But taking 100mg two nights after MDMA did lead to what I believe to be a near-death experience.
Or Serotonin Syndrome - another poorly defined neurological condition.
Suffice it to say it was the WORST night of my life and it happened 17 months ago.
I'm still recovering.
I have NO doubt that DPH greatly enhanced the neurotoxicity of MDMA for me.
There were other factors, such as rolling the previous weekend, redosing both weekends, and being a long-term cannabis user.
These are ALL things linked to bad outcomes in research of MDMA users.
But it was the DPH that really pushed me over the edge.
Like a catapult.
Just four of those little pink pills caused more euphoria, dizziness, and pleasant sensations than I EVER experienced from it before.
So DPH and MDMA definitely interact in a potentially dangerous way.
But perhaps not in very reasonable doses.
A 'responsible' MDMA user that takes a small dose of DPH is unlikely to experience what I did.
But if you like to redose, the greatest risk factor among MDMA users, then DPH is NOT for you.
At any dose...
I would give anything to untake those sleeping pills.
Note - insomnia is the hallmark symptom of MDMA neurotoxicity.
That means people with serious psychological problems post MDMA ALWAYS report severe disruptions in sleeping.
I can still remember the constant ringing in my head for the first week.
And weeks after that the energy and anxiety would not relent.
It took 7 months to experience REM sleep again!
And there were times that it happened while trying to stay awake...
So next time you find it hard to sleep post MDMA - consider this a sign of neurotoxicty.
And be DAMNED glad it ends within a few days.
You cannot imagine how much worse it can get.
Get a benzo and leave the DPH alone.
Trust me.
