Hi all.

Can Diphenhydramine and Doxylamine (Unisom) cause restless legs as a side effect if taken in high doses?
And can you take one of each to achieve greater sedative effect?

Thanks for your reply.

Restless legs is not what I want!
But where's the limit? I mean, how many pills can you take and avoid restless legs?

There's no way to know.

Are you looking for some sleep or trying to catch a buzz?

Assuming you have little tolerance, try using 50mg of diphenhydramine or 25mg of doxylamine. If your not used to anti-histamines, it may leave you groggy in the morning, especially the diphenhydramine. I see no point in mixing them, but if you must, then 25mg diphenhydramine+12.5 doxylamine should be enough.

There's nothing pleasant about the sedation from these drugs though. In fact, I would actually call it unpleasant and kinda annoying, doing anything other than sleeping feels like a tedious chore.

I'm trying to get some sleep. I'm expecting my order of Unison in the mail soon, and I ordered both of the variations.
I'm used to antihistamines and other hypnotics/sedatives, I have used Phenergan before and also benzodiazepines and barbiturates. So I probably need a higher dose of these pills than others.

I know Unisom isn't recreational, I'm just trying to get ridd of my insomnia.

Are one of these two more likely to cause restless legs than the other?

I ordered more of the Doxylamine Unisom than the Diphenhydramine version.
