I am a 56yo M suffering from intestinal cancer. I had extensive debulking surgery a year ago resulting in the loss of most of the small intestine and several sections of the colon (no colostomy). The result is been almost constant nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and severe dehydration. The pain is unbearable at times and I have been prescribed Dilaudid in every form. The pills make me nauseous; the suppositories are useless with the diarrhea and I have tried crushing the pills and snorting the powder with no results, which leaves injecting it as the only solution. But thanks to our over protective government I can only get that by going to an emergency room. Can somebody tell me if there is an effective way to make Dilaudid pills injectable and how and where to do it? I am used to getting up to 4mg of Dilaudid IV every 3 hrs when in a hospital setting. I also have a hefty supply of 2 and 4 mg pills as well as insulin syringes and needles. Thank you in advance for your help
 
Crush, mix with a 1/2 syring of sterile water, drop in a small cotton ball and draw up in a sterile syringe. Its probably one of he easiest pills to inject, but you should start with a very small amount, its not like getting it through the iv in the hospital. You WILL get a mad rush. bE SAFE. Dont do this alone, make sure someone is close by. I am not sure how long the painkilling properties will last with this method.
 
Dilaudid is relatively the safest pill to inject, and really only requires cold water, a spoon, cotton, clean syringes, and alcohol prep pads.

However, in your case since you are talking about long-term daily injections, you are going to want to stock up on proper IV supplies to be as safe as possible.

Dilly's are by far the easiest pills to do this with - unfortunately the analgesic effect is short-lived in comparison to things like morphine and other stuff. Also unfortunate, I don't believe shooting them won't make you any less nauseous. That's just the way they work. Might I suggest you ask your doctor for something trans-dermal like fentanyl? these release the pain medication over time so you don't get nausea from them hitting you all at once or from digesting them. If all you're looking for is analgesia, and you're not looking for recreational properties, this seems like the best option. I don't think your doctor would have a problem prescribing them, considering he's already got you on Dilaudid, especially if you tell them that the side effects are making you consider intravenous administration.

I don't think you're allowed to give out your e-mail address or even to ask someone to shoot you an e-mail. I could be wrong, I know thats a rule on opiophile though.


btw, has anyone seen http://www.opioficionado.org/ ? looks like a cool board, I signed up, posted a bunch, and then that was DAYS ago. so I guess the board is dead. its kind of like this one though, in the way the subforums are categorized, so I guess theres no real reason to ask people to visit that one. just wondering if anyone else has heard of it? because it seems like its been around and was once alive, but now is dead.
 
Thanks to everybody for your responses and words of encouragement. Whoever said you can't send private messages here is right, I tried answering and it won't let me. I successfully injected once but it made me realize the impracticality of doing that on a persistent basis for my problem. Increasing the Fentanyl patch to 100ms has helped but only so much. Again, thanks to you all.
