Hi everyone, I just wanted to get some feedback from everyone.

I snort about 24mg of dilaudid (3 x 8mg pills) over a 12 hour period every 72 hours. I never increase the dose, but I do cocaine sometimes with it (I know it is dangerous mixing these drugs). My question is, since I wait 60 hours in between each time I use the drug dilaudid, is my withdrawal going to be the worst over in that 60 hour period I wait always? I never let myself do it more often than every third day so I don't build a tolerance and cause a big withdrawal for myself. Within that 60 hours, after about 30 hours I can feel some aches and pains and cramps, then proceeds with diarehha but after 60 hours has passed I still feel a little achy and most symptoms have subsided. If I continue with this habit will the withdrawal continue to get worse? And also what is the peak time for dilaudid withdrawal? Is the worst at around hour 48 then start to improve? And what can I take for the aches and pains, also headache? Thank you!

Also note that I use to have a habit of doing 2 points of heroin every 2 days over a 12 hour period. Basically giving each use 36 hours in between.

When I quit this it was hell, I couldn't function but the most of it was over within 96 hours and I've been clean for 2 months from heroin. Now I'm just doing the dilaudid every third day.

Is it good that I'm putting days in between my uses? Is it better than people that are doing it everyday? I'm just wanting to make sure I'm not going to screw myself over doing 24 mg of dilaudid every 72 hours. The withdrawals don't seem to be getting worse at all and I've been doing this for the past 2 months since I quit heroin. Is it safe to say ill be totally fine and if I can always wait 60 hours atleast since using til I use again that I will be able to endure the withdrawal if I were to have to wait for example a week, since the worst is within that 60 hours I always wait anyway? I hope this isn't confusing. Any feedback is great. Thank you!

if i were you i would not continue to take dilaudid or any opiates in this manner.

i say this mostly because, yes, the withdrawals are most likely going to get worse with time as your tolerance builds. by using this every 3 day dosing schedule, you are going to continuously dose, then withdrawal for 2 days until you dose again... and this will happen again and again.

in the beginning it wont be so bad, but youre probably going to get dependent to it eventually taking it this close together... personally, i wouldn't want to have to go through withdrawal this frequently... especially when they get worse. you will probably find yourself dosing the dilaudid every day doing this...

i think if you want to keep your tolerance low and you dont want to get withdrawals i would spread it out more than every 3 days... to something like every 5 days or every week. i just think that every 3 days seems too close together to not make a habit out of it. if you spread it out a little bit more i don't think you'll find yourself getting any withdrawal symptoms whatsoever.

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah if I wait a week hopefully I can get over the wholle withdrawal so I don't get any withdrawal at all. I'm shocked that some of my friends can snort around 3 points of heroin a day for a few days and not withdrawal but if I did I would withdrawal a ton. Are some people more sensitive to opiate withdrawal? I agree with your feedback of putting more time in between. But I am really addicted and at hour 60 after I feel mentally I feel like I'm withdrawaling a lot just because I know its time to do it, but if I forget about it or something takes me attention I have no withdrawal. Its really weird how my mental state affects the withdrawal. If I stop now, and my withdrawals aren't that bad (some soreness, aches and pains, tired, diareha, watery eyes, irritability) and start getting better after 72 hours, do you think if I quit this cycle right now it won't be that bad? Do you know anything that will help the pain?

I mean, if you have noticed that you have been fine for 2 months now, it might work fine for you... i personally don't think it would work for me.

im thinking that even if you start getting minor to moderate withdrawals you are going to feel uncomfortable getting them every other day, you know. so then you might find yourself taking it to relieve those withdrawal symptoms and before you know it you are taking it every day.

so, as i said i would try to spread it out a bit more but its up to you. i take opiates every day so i wouldn't know exactly as i have never tried to take them every 3 days or something like this

I have extreme self controll, I did heroin for over a year and never did it without waiting 2 days. So I'm sure ill be fine always waiting 60 hours.

But what is your opinion on this idea: compared to a taper method, do you think it would be a good idea to maybe wait an extra 4 hours in between each use so that I'm at 64 hours, then 68, then 72 etc? And maybe each time try to do a lower dose. Maybe that will work.

My big problem is that I'm not really that addicted to the opiates, but I'm addicted to cocaine and everytime I do cocaine I need the opiates to not get the anxiety feeling.

yeah i know exactly what you mean about your mental state affecting your withdrawal symptoms... especially the anxiety and insomnia... if im withdrawing badly and i get good news like im going to score then i instantly feel a bit better. or if i have that impending doom feeling and i know theres nothing i can do to feel better i will start withdrawing way before i normally would... so its basically all mental in that case. having a good mindset definitely makes it more bearable.

and yes in some ways people are more sensitive to withdrawals... it all has to do with how much the person uses, how frequently, and how long they have been on opiates, etc.

so it seems as though you are only suffering minor withdrawal at this point... so yes, if you were to stop for a week and then pick up again you would be relieved of all withdrawal. and if you were to keep it to only once a week or so i dont think you would ever have withdrawal after each use because your body wouldn't get the chance to become dependent. so, if you want to go this route then i suggest you do it now because this will be the best and easiest time to do it without much discomfort.

if you want to take them more than every week or so however, just be careful. because even trying every 3 days, before you know it it could turn into every day. and then your tolerance will go through the roof and the withdrawals will be unbelievable.

Yeah, also maybe doing blow with the dilaudid also aggravates the withdrawal and makes it worse. I'm using right now and have plans for Saturday so I am going to go 87 hours this time before using. Then hopefully go from there adding more time! But it feels like nothing helps the pain, naproxen, advil, tylenol etc. Sometimes I take some valium to help me sleep when I withdrawal and it helps a lot, so far I haven't become addicted to valium so I guess its good to stop now. Although nothing could ever compare to how bad it was to quit heroin. This will be a breeze compared to that. Is it a good sign that my withdrawals don't usually start til atleast 24 hours since my last line? Cause I know in really bad cases of withdrawal for people that the withdrawal starts for them a few hours after using.

Also, tonight I only did 20mg instead of 24mg and I waited 64 hours instead of my usual 60 hours. Do you think the fact I did less than usual and that I waited longer than usual will improve my withdrawal I experience every time?

you will have to go through brutal withdrawals. espcecially with Hydomorphone, it wont last too long though.

I have a tolerance of about 90mg's of roxicodone a day and i have been doing Opana for the last 3-4 days and i can already notice a huge increase in withdrawal. and all i have done is 210mg's of opana in the last 3-4 days.

Opana blew Oxycodone out the fucking water, even with a 90mg oxycodone tolerance it still felt like the first time doing opiates when i did opana.

That's wgat I was saying, dilaudid withdrawal is short lived, and ends after about 72 hours for the worst of it. But I always wait around that amount of time before usong again anyway. So I doubt ill withdrawal if I were to quit for longer than that, or ill have endured the worst of it already anyway. I always put atleast 60 hours in between using. Some people even say most of dilaudid withdrawal is over after even 48 hours mostly

If you are using every three days, the withdrawals will not be NEARLY as intense as they would be if you dosed that amount every day. I bet they will only be 20% of what they could be. I once got into the habit of getting high once every 3 days, and when I quit the withdrawals were nothing horrendous.

If you slowly space apart your doses, or slowly decrease your doses, or both, and keep to that schedule, you can avoid almost all of the withdrawal.

Good luck with whatever you do!

OP, I also use opiates in a similar manner, and while we might be avoiding severe W/D upon just quitting opiates altogether, the toll this method of use can take on your mind can be very damaging.

On a psychological note, I am curious....
On the days you don't use do you do fun, exciting things?
Do you spend a lot of time out doors?
Is your mind filled with constant thoughts of opiates that hinder you?

I think it is important not to become too rigorous on yourself. I know you probably know that you are an addict, but you should keep in mind that this sort of "drug use scheduling" is serious addict behavior and could end up taking all the fun out of your life...

I know because I am in a similar situation. I have found forcing my self to hike, run, ride bike, play instruments, make love to my girl, and generally forget about opiates until the day comes, when I will allow myself to use them (I use once every seven days, 65mg methadone), makes life alot more fun in between the times that I use, even if I feel minor withdrawals...

I find with Dilaudid, the key for a better withdrawal is tapering your dose down, not so much the time. For example I was IVing 18 mg per shot and shooting about 6-7 times per day (108-126 mg/day) and I found after much experience that if I lowered down, the pain and intensity almost had an exponential relationship. From dropping off of 18 cold turkey I thought I was going to die. However lately when I know I have to come off, I try to get down to 2-4 mg/dose or around 10-24 mg/day and it's sooooo much easier. It goes away faster and the pain/sweat/puke...is sooo much easier on the body. So take a couple of days and do yourself a favor and have the willpower to do a fast taper, it'll save you hell.
I really hope this helps you out bro. I feel you, hydromorphone withdrawal is terrible, but it's over fast!
I actually got on HM for a few days to kick a morphine habit I had before; it worked great!
Good luck, and stick to the kick!

The half-life is so short that you should only have 2 bad days instead of the usual 4-5. It is really easy to come off for me, but the way you are using it is probably going to up your dependence but slowly but steadily raising your blood plasma levels.

I would recommend that in addition to tapering your dose, you slowly start spreading out days of use. I think that would work well for you.

I see you said that nothing seems to help with the pain on your off days...

well one thing you could try is to take small amounts of tramadol on your off days from dilaudid... as much as i used to think that tramadol is useless it has worked wonders for me in times of need.

i am a chronic pain patient and take very large, pretty obscene, amounts of oxymorphone every day (~30 - 90mg IV Opana IR and ~80 - 120mg insufflated Opana ER) so naturally my withdrawals are out of this world. some months i will run out about 5 days early and without tramadol i dont know what i would do. if i wasn't in so much pain id kick my habit its just getting ridiculous...

even with how weak tramadol is and how strong oxymorphone is, tramadol almost takes away ALL of my severe withdrawal symptoms. besides a bit of anxiety, insomnia and a runny nose i feel completely fine. so sometimes if you are feeling minor withdrawals or a bit of pain i swear 50-100mg of tramadol will make you feel a lot better. plus it works great as an anti depressant...

just a suggestion.

Intense, horrible, but thankfully short lived. Get some benzos if possible, loperamide, and maybe some tramadol (although that can cause an addiction on its own, but tramdaol worked absloutely magical when I was coming off bupe).
A short acting drug like Dilaudid, the physical withdrawals are going to be gone in less than week, depending on your habit. BUT THEY DO SURE SUCK!!
For mental withdrawals or long-lasting PAWS, and antidepressant like Wellbutrin may help, or I'll mention again--tramadol. Tram has amazing antidepressant potential, but take as prescribed or responsibly or you'll be hooked on Tram.
